For those curious, YouTube Red, the ad-free subscription service from YouTube, does work with the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. You’re not going to get any of the added perks, like video downloads for offline viewing or background playback, like you’ll find on mobile phones and tablets, but YouTube Red subscribers who login on the Fire TV’s YouTube app will enjoy ad-free viewing as well as access to exclusive original content. After logging in you’ll find that the YouTube logo in the upper right will change to a YouTube Red logo, indicating you will no longer see any pre-roll advertisements when watching YouTube videos on Fire TV devices.

Why would anyone subscribe to youtube red for $10 month when you can get netflix or amazon prime, what a joke
With YouTube Red you also get Google Play Music, which is $10/month on its own. YouTube Red alone may not be worth it to most, but if you were considering subscribing to a music service anyway, it’s not a bad deal.
Most people who have Fire TV or a firestick hack Kodi loaded on it and then you get free music TV and everything anyway so why would anyone pay $10 for anything? With Amazon Prime I just tell Alexa what to play and she plays it. The only reason to have YouTube Red is if you want to skip the ads which are only 5 Seconds long. YouTube red is for impatient people who have money to waste

There are YouTube Red exclusives, just like Netflix. Full length movies, TV shows, and separate channels for popular YouTube channels. It is well worth the money and I’m excited to use it on Amazon Fire TV!
I found YouTube RED not to to work on the FireTV (latest 4k version I own) nor my roku3…
Dave I have the same problem. It works on every device I own except my Firestick. I can’t play any purchased content. So I guess I really don’t own what I thought I purchased

YouTube Red appears to work on the Fire TV Stick Gen 2 which ads at times like if you pause a video and come back an hour or so later but that seems more like a bug.
Though music stopped playing once I exited the app, so backgrounding of YouTube Red at least doesn’t work.
