When the upcoming $49.99 and $99.99 Fire TV Smart TV lightning deals will go live

Amazon revealed a few days ago that there will be two ridiculously good lightning deals on Fire TV Smart TVs during Prime Day. One is the 32-inch Insignia F20 Series 720p Fire TV for $49.99, which is 72% off its regular price of $179.99, and the other is the 50-inch Amazon 4-Series 4K Fire TV for $99.99, which is 79% off its regular price of $467.99. These are “doorbuster” deals designed to create alluring headlines and draw people into Prime Day. When these deals go live, they will surely sell out very quickly. Amazon won’t reveal when each deal will go live, but there is a good indicator for which day each TV deal will be available.

Both the 32-inch Insignia and the 50-inch Amazon Fire TV Smart TVs went on sale during the run-up to Prime day as early Prime Day deals. The 32-inch Insignia TV dropped to $99.99, which matched the lowest it had ever been in the past, and the 50-inch Amazon TV dropped to $259.99, which is $40 lower than it had ever been in the past.

This morning, the early Prime Day sale for the 32-inch Insignia TV ended and the TV is now back to its regular price of $179.99. No other Fire TV Smart TV sale ended this morning. The 50-inch Amazon TV, however, is still available for its sale price of $259.99, but that sale is marked to end at midnight tonight. It is the only Fire TV Smart TV deal for Prime Day that is set to end at midnight. All other TV deals are currently set to end tomorrow when the 2-day Prime Day event ends.

Since the 32-inch Insignia TV is already back to its regular price and the 50-inch Amazon TV will do the same tomorrow, that’s a pretty strong indicator that the 32-inch Insignia TV will start its $49.99 lightning deal sometime today and the 50-inch Amazon TV will start its $99.99 lightning deal sometime tomorrow. My theory is that Amazon doesn’t want one deal to flow into another, so the TVs are returned to their regular list prices the morning that the new lightning deals will start.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to know what time each deal will go live, but I’ve got alert scripts monitoring the prices of these two TVs every few minutes with posts pre-written about the deals being live. So, if I’m able to catch them going live, I’ll publish the posts immediately. You can sign up for my email post alerts to improve your odds of knowing when these deals go live.

Update 7/12

As I guessed, the 32-inch Insignia Fire TV lightning deal did go live today at around 6:00 AM PT and, as expected, it sold out very quickly. According to Amazon’s deal counter, 50% of the available TVs were sold in the first 10 minutes and the remaining TVs were purchased within 25 minutes of the deal going live. Congrats to anyone that managed to purchase the TV in time. I expect the 50-inch Amazon Fire TV will sell out even quicker, but I’ll be sure to post the moment its lightning deal goes live.

Update #2 7/12

Amazon is now listing the upcoming lightning deal for the 50-inch Amazon 4-Series 4K Fire TV for $99.99 as starting at 6:00 AM PT tomorrow, July 13.

Update #3 7/13

Oddly, the 50-inch Amazon 4-Series 4K Fire TV is no longer listed as an upcoming lightning deal for 6:00 AM PT, as it was listed yesterday. The TV is back to its regular list price today, so that is a good indicator that the lightning deal will still happen at some point today, but the 6:00 AM PT time might no longer be accurate.

Update #3 7/13

The deal went live at 6:00 AM PT after all and, as expected, it sold out in record time. By 6:03 AM PT it was 50% sold and around 6:05 AM PT it was sold out. Congrats to everyone that go one!

If I am on the app at 8:59 Eastern time, do you think is it likely that I will be able to get one?

I think it went live earlier this morning. I don’t see it anymore.

    • I just noticed too that the 50″ TV is no longer listed as an upcoming lightning deal. I can’t find any indication online that it already went live, such as on deal forums, so I don’t think it started yet. I think Amazon might just want to keep the timing hidden now. The TV is back to its regular list price today, which is a good sign. That’s what the 32″ TV did before it started its lightning deal. After the 32″ TV lightning deal ended, the TV went back to its “normal” sale price. Since the 50″ TV is not back at its “normal” sale price it likely hasn’t gone through the lightning deal yet. The big unknown question is whether Amazon is sticking to the 6:00 AM PT time or if removing the 50″ TV as an upcoming lightning deal means they’re not sticking to that original 6:00 AM PT time anymore. We’ll see.

Do you know if Hisense U6GF 50 inch will go on sale further than what’s listed?

Any news if it will be another tv lightning deal?

    • I doubt it, but there’s no way to know for sure. Amazon pre-announced the two deals that happened so far (32″ TV and 50″ TV) so I don’t think they will be surprising us with another unannounced lightning deal, but you never know.

Thank you so much for this post! I refreshed my browser at 9 am exactly and I was able to get one. My brother overslept by just 5 minutes and missed the deal.
