Walmart’s Onn 1080p Android TV Streaming Stick appears on website for $24.88

Walmart’s 1080p Android TV streaming stick, which leaked a couple of months ago, has now popped up on their website, as spotted by @AndroidTV_Rumor. The Onn FHD Streaming Stick, as it’s officially called, is priced at $24.88 and comes with the same Google-designed G10 remote as Walmart’s Onn UHD Streaming Device. While it’s not yet available to purchase, we do now know a bit more about it.

The Onn Streaming Stick will be powered by an Amlogic S805Y quad-core CPU running at 1.4GHz, Mali-450 MP GPU, and comes with 1GB of RAM. You can probably expect it to have 8GB of onboard storage, but that has not yet been confirmed. It supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac WiFi and comes with an HDMI extender and a micro USB power adapter. It’s probably safe to say that it will be running Android TV 10 with the slightly updated interface that now has a “Discovery” tab and large banner ads across the top.

At just $5 more, Walmart’s 4K streaming box is certainly a much better buy, thanks to a notably better processor and twice the RAM. Although, I wouldn’t recommend either one due to the numerous software issues that plague the Onn 4K streamer.

The main reason to buy the Onn Streaming Stick, in my opinion, is for the G10 remote. At just $25, the stick might be worth picking up for 2020 Chromecast and Nvidia Shield TV owners who are looking for a more traditional remote. The G10 remote does mostly work with those devices, but there are some important shortcomings to be aware of. The G10 remote is not at all compatible with Fire TV devices.

I like the shape of this remote better than Nvidia’s Ode to Toblerone remote. I could do without the banner ads on the bottom though.

I wonder if there will be any regular system updates to them. That’s one thing about amazon’s stuff, they do updates.
