Walmart finally lists the new Onn 4K Pro for sale on its website

Even though the Onn 4K Pro has already been available to buy in select stores for a few days now, Walmart has only now gotten around to listing it online. The Onn 4K Pro listing on Walmart.com is now up with a price of $49.88. However, it’s either not quite ready to be purchased yet or has already sold out, as it is currently showing as out of stock. The images in the listing do show a remote with the big “Free TV” button, even though some customers have received units without the button, so it seems like the button is here to stay. You can use the SKU item number 5193222892 to call your local Walmart to see if they have any in stock or you can enter your email address on the product page to be notified when it’s back in stock online.

I will admit, I am pretty excited and will probably buy one on my trip stateside on the long weekend coming… but with exchange for us Canucks, price is similar to 4K Max. My current Max is pretty snappy and works much better than other fire devices I have owned. I like my current ONN boxes, but do find they lag a little so this new one should fix that.

Poof. Just like that, it’s gone.

  4. Quantom Oracle says:

and just like that its gone.. lol

  5. I guess it’s a regional thing because the page still works for me, even though others are seeing an error.

I’m located in Virginia. Checked my local Super Walmart late last night, and the Electronics Manager tells me he never heard of it, but checked the back room anyway. After 15 minutes, he comes back out and tells me it’s not in the back to put in the glass lock case. He then goes on and informs me that the area’s Walmart distribution center may not have it in stock for all of the local Super Walmarts in the area yet. We are pretty far from Arkansas, so maybe next week the area’s Walmart distribution center will get it, and then all the area’s Super Walmarts will get it.
I plan to get the Onn 4K pro from my local Super Walmart only, because I am thinking once it’s available on walmart.com, someone is going to buy 1000 of them to sell them on Ebay at a price gouging price for European and other foreign customers.
I am planning to check my local Super Walmart on Monday. Fingers crossed.

there are already sellers on ebay that recieved these gouging US customers for these because the stock is just not there and the demand is through the roof…It is an awesome tv streamer and definitely a Firestick Killer!!

  7. MikePDX says:

Link takes me to the page but the Pro is nowhere to be found. There are three Walmarts in the Portland area. Two are Super Walmart. None of them have it, they say. They appear to have some vague knowledge of it. (Probably just from people calling about it)

  8. discgolf4life7 says:

I went to 3 different Walmart stores today and only 1 had knowledge of the new box. He also said they are getting a shipment next Tuesday….

Just want to say kudos to former Amazon man Elias for his quite good and comprehensive recent coverage of this new and quite appealing Android TV option.

I’d like to think it’s some recognition that Amazon has done some serious damage to its standing with the streaming enthusiast community thru its recent control-focused changes to the once popular Fire TV line.

And that backlash is only going to deepen when Amazon starts abandoning its original Android based FTV OS in favor of the future non Android Vega OS.

Given a choice, enthusiasts for certain are going to opt for Android, no matter which way the mass market goes.

    • I’m glad you’re enjoying the articles and thanks for the kind words. I’ve always tried to cover all streaming devices, not just Amazon’s, but most tend not to interest the readers here. This new Onn is the first non-Fire TV in a long while that’s actually interesting. I might have to officially unofficially change the name of this site from “Amazon Fire TV News” to “Android & Fire TV News” if this keeps up. ;-)

Doesn’t come up on any website I can find….

I got a macro constantly refreshing the page. Lol. I cant drive bc of a disability so its not easy getting to a walmart. So my only chance to get one is online. I wanna get it before scalpers do. Hopefully i can. Maybe next week it will be more widely available.

  12. Michael says:

    Uh-oh…
This page could not be found.
Portland, OR area three stores two super stores nothing.
    Nothing online.
Elias many thanks for all this information. I’m keen to grab one to test at that price.

There will a FRENZY for this device once it’s available online and in stores. Just be ready to add to cart as quick as you can before it’s sold out. Hope Walmart is prepared for this once they make it available and have plenty to go around. It will fly off the shelves. The internet buzz is overwhelming about this device.

  14. 3688xkevin says:

So, this post gonna stay as long as it can till it really got listed.

  15. TC says:

When I click the link, it’s just a blank white page.

  16. Michael says:

Showed up this morning on the website. Available at the Vancouver, WA Superstore, it’s about 20 minutes from me in Portland, OR. I’ll pick it up after 11 am this morning.

  17. Ethan says:

Still not available on walmart.con or in any of the Super Walmarts here in Virginia. I noticed the Onn 4k pro is already showing up on Ebay.com at those price gouging prices. I see 2 for over $100. Unbelievable.

    • BasicPixel says:

anyone who pays that is really dumb. just get a shield at that point

      • Ethan says:

They do not sell the Onn 4K box in the UK or Europe, so anyone over seas will pay the extra money for a high in-demand android TV box. An Amazon marketplace seller sells the $20 Onn 4K google tv box for $30, and I know a bunch of people in the UK are buying it even though it only comes with a US plug.

  18. Navy Nuke 79 says:

In South Louisiana(north shore) – Picked up one today. They were not in the case Saturday and it is still not showing on web site for me. Electronics associate said she just put them out this morning.

  19. Basic Pixel says:

Finally Live in TN every store near me says not available and shipping says not available but no longer getting error code so signs leading to it being more widely available soon

  20. Ethan says:

I just found that the Super Walmarts in the major Virginia cities just got the Onn 4k pros in stock. I guess the Super Walmarts in the rural areas are 2nd priority. Oh well. Planning to get mine tomorrow.
I recommend you change your location on Walmart.com to the closest major city. It will probably show up.

    • Basic Pixel says:

How is a city with a metro population of over 1 million considered rural tho? Sure I don’t live in a metropolis but I would not call it rural.

  21. Donovan Smith says:

Sling TV is not available in the Google play store nor can you side load it on the Onn 4k Pro. Does anyone know why is that.

    • Charles Knebel says:

I found that also out. In addition to Sling TV there are four other apps that I have that are not available from the box from the Play Store, they are CHL TV, ABC12 news and weather and Zeam TV.

      How can this be remedied?

      • JFC says:

Re the Sling TV app being unavailable on the new Onn TV Pro device:

Now that’s really STRANGE! Perhaps Onn and Google haven’t quite worked out the proper set of app permission assignments for the new device.

Sling works just fine on my existing two Onn streaming devices, the original Android TV version (now upgraded to Google TV) and the year-later native Google TV version (both being the 4K mini box type).

Any other Sling users here experienced the same problem as Charles?

        • JD says:

Yes I side loaded latest version of Sling TV Version 9.3.72 and it installs but when APP opens it displays the Sling logo but then it just closes.
Got mine 4 days ago and testing it out as finding bugs in other apps like Tubi for example if you click on your favorites you cannot scroll down the TV Guide list but works on the other Genres but it is laggy.

Will be returning within the 30 days if Sling TV is not updated to as the one I got does not have the Remote with the Backlit keys or the Blue TV button.

The $25.00 on Amazon TiVo Stream 4K is just as fast as the Onn 4K Pro and Sling TV works Great on it as I use OTA with an AirTV Anywhere and Sling is also integrated into the Google Home screen and you can also reorganize or delete all those Rows of what to watch on the Home Screen unlike on the Onn 4K.
The only option I found is to click the Account button next to the Voice button > choose manage accounts > move Right > scroll down > turn on Apps only mode.

          • JFC says:

“The $25.00 on Amazon TiVo Stream 4K is just as fast as the Onn 4K Pro and Sling TV works Great”

I used to have a Tivo Stream and used its built-in Sling TV app for a long time, until the microUSB power jack finally broke and made it unuseable.

But it suffered from the same 8 GB built-in storage constraint as most of the other similar devices in its class… And there were times when I wished it just had the regular clean Android TV interface instead of the Tivo overlay.

That said, did your Stream ever get ongoing OTA OS updates mirroring those done by Google as it went from Android TV to the newer Google TV interface?

  22. Keith says:

Not seeing it available anywhere in North Carolina.

  23. Ethan says:

Here in Virginia, it showed up on Walmart.com for pick-up only at the Super Walmarts only in the metropolitan areas yesterday morning. Now it is showing “out of stock”. I think Walmart made a mistake and prematurely put the Onn 4k PRO up on the website, when none of the Walmarts in the area still don’t have it. Walmart has done this in the past.

  24. Basic Pixel says:

Tennessee was able to order one online today ships and delivered tomorrow. Said 1 left in stocks hopefully they don’t cancel.

  25. Ethan says:

Early this morning, I was finally able to order 1 Onn 4k pro from a local Super Walmart. I was excited to finally be able to find and purchase one. But I just received an email from Walmart.com stating that they had to cancel my pick-up order because it’s out of stock. Walmart always does this. So unreliable. I will try again tomorrow morning.

    • Ethan says:

UPDATE: Walmart.com just made it available to order online. Mine will be delivered to my house on Saturday.

  26. Ethan says:

Walmart.com just made is available to order online. Grab it fast before they sell out.

  27. Basic Pixel says:

Just got mine delivered by walmart today. It had a “google tv launch update” and my remote is not back-lit and did not come with a freetv button. I ran geekbench 4 on it and got 864 single and 2140 multi core.

    • JFC says:

When you bought the device online from Walmart, did their product imagery for the device show a remote with the big FREE TV button, or not?

I saw one report earlier today saying that people have been reporting getting THREE different styles of remotes with the devices — one with backlighting and the big blue key, one with backlighting without the big blue key, and one with neither.

      • Basic Pixel says:

I think the website pictured the one with blue button but I got literally the same remote that came with the $20 non pro version but it was black and with a star button instead of input.

  28. Ethan says:

Went to a local area Super Walmart today here in south-eastern Virginia and was able to talk to the Electronics Manager. She told me that a lot of people have called her and asked if the Onn 4k Pro is in stock. She responded, “even though we have a spot on the shelf for the Onn 4k Pro, none of the area Super Walmarts are scheduled to receive the Onn 4k Pro till 5/20/2024. Walmart was not ready for the flood of requests, so this has delayed the delivery dates for all local area Super Walmarts.”
When the Onn 4k Pro was available to order online for only 5 minutes yesterday at around 11:00(EST), I quickly jumped on the Walmart app and ordered mine. I just received an email that I will be getting my Onn 4k pro delivered to my house tomorrow.
I also heard about the remote problem. Several people mentioned on YouTube that they received the old white Onn 4k remote with their Onn 4k Pro or the black remote with no FREE TV button. This is unacceptable! I am spending $50. I expect to receive the new back-lit black remote with the FREE TV button. If I receive the old white remote that I already have, I will be calling Walmart to complain. It’s like purchasing a PS5 for $800 and getting a PS3 controller.

  29. JD says:

    • Tom says:

Why are some people receiving remotes without the blue button and backlit remote, while others are getting the these?

  30. JFC says:

I want to like this new Onn TV Pro device. But there’s simply NO excuse for what appears to be the bush-league nonsense going on with the various functionally distinct remote versions being sent out along with the device.

Likewise, there’s NO excuse for a major retailer like Walmart having such a bush-league rollout of the device where it’s apparently just not available in many stores right from the get-go, even though the device has supposedly now officially launched.

This launch is much worse thus far than some of the more minor availability problems that occurred when the prior Onn TV streaming devices rolled out.
