very nice video. do you think you could make on on how to update recovery nice the ftv2 is rooted. because im running recovery v2. how do i update to recovery v3 and update TWRP from 3.0.0-1 to 3.0.0-2.

No, read the tread and use the link for allready Rooted devices
Yes you can. There is a way to just install recovery, discussed here, but there is no harm in going through my guide with an already rooted Fire TV 2. The end result will be the same if the device is rooted to start with or not.

I would still like to see a good reason to root. I understand I can install GooglePlay store and custom ROMs. What is that going to get me? Has someone developed a killer ROM that I don’t know about? The apps on GooglePlay are optimized for phones not the FireTV. Can you elaborate on why I should root my FireTV. I used to jailbreak my iphone but I see no use in doing so anymore.
