Here is a roundup of all the recently released, upcoming, greenlit, and canceled Amazon original shows and movies.
Season 4 of Amazon’s Emmy and Golden Globe winning show Transparent premiers today on Amazon Video for Prime members. Amazon has already renewed the show for a 5th season. Last week, the Amazon original movie The Lost City of Z became available on Prime Video. If you haven’t seen the short but sweet first season of Amazon’s original series The Tick yet, be sure to check that out because it’s getting great reviews across the board.
Looking ahead at what’s coming from Amazon, the first season of their original series Tin Star will debut next week on September 29. After that, the highly anticipated original series Lore will arrive on October 13. Friday the 13th is a fitting day for the series debut because it’s a mystery and horror show from an executive producer of The Walking Dead and the executive producer of The X-Files. That day will also see the arrival of the Amazon original movie City of Ghosts and the original kids show Sigmund and the Sea Monsters.
That covers what has premiered and will premiere soon, but there is also a lot of news about all new projects from Amazon that are just getting off the ground. Amazon has inked a deal with Stranger Things writer Justin Doble to develop genre projects exclusively for Prime Video. Amazon has also acquired the rights for James Gunn’s Starsky and Hutch reboot.
Amazon has been making big plays in sports recently as well. The already have the rights to stream all of this year’s Thursday Night Football games for the NFL, which starts this coming Thursday with the Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers. All of those games are free to watch for Prime Members. Amazon has green-lit a new documentary series that will follow the University of Michigan’s college football team. They’ve also picked up the global streaming rights for the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Next Gen ATP Finals men’s youth tennis tournament through the end of 2018. Starting with the inaugural event in November 2017, they’ll stream the tournament live.
Lastly, in a new effort to focus on finding major hit shows, Amazon has chosen to cancel The Last Tycoon and Z: The Beginning of Everything. The second season of Z, which Amazon already greenlit, will not be produced.

Bosch still going strong?
Season 4 began filming in August, so I think it’s fine. That show really surprised me. Got much better as it’s gone on.
Bosch is one of the best shows on TV or, I guess, best not on TV shows?
What about Goliath?
They’re still announcing additions to the Season 2 cast, so that show seems safe.

No, they don’t. As best as I recall the NFL’s TNF broadcast schedule, and as evidenced by Amazon’s absence from TNF the past couple weeks, they’re going to be streaming pretty much ONLY the games broadcast nationwide by CBS and NBC.
That leaves out the first two TNF games of the season, one game middle season between the NBC and CBS groupings, and then the last couple TNF games of the season. Although, I’ve never seen it explained why Amazon isn’t streaming ALL of the games, including the non-CBS and non-NBC ones that otherwise are aired over cable via the NFL Network.
Sad news about Z and The Last Tycoon, those were excellent period dramas. I guess the cost to produce them outweighed the viewership.
