For those of you who missed out on the $21 sale last month, the TP-Link Smart Plug is on sale today only for $22.99. This plug has been $15 and $18 through Alexa-exclusive deals in the past, but if you don’t want to wait until Prime Day next month, this current sale is a pretty good price. This switch can be directly controlled by Alexa without needing any hubs or other equipment. Just plug it in, set it up in the app, and you’ll be able to control it by saying “Alexa, turn on/off the [chosen name].“
Just ordered one to go with my Echo Dot I bought a few days ago at Fry’s for $39.99. Reviews seem to suggest that it loses it’s connection on a regular basis and that it can be a pain. But at this price I thought I’d give it a try as a way to control my living room lights with Alexa. More for fun that necessity. Seems like a relatively cheap way to build the “Home of Tomorrow” that most of us baby boomers have been hearing about since the 60’s. :) Now I just have to get a “smart” thermostat. I’m leaning towards the Emmerson Sensi. Any of you have experience, either pro or con, with it and controlling it with Alexa?
I have 2 and am getting ready to order another. I’ve NEVER had any connectivity problems with them.
I purchased one of these about 6 months ago. Works great and is easy to set up; had no connectivity issues at all.
My only problem with it is that I used it to turn my Christmas tree on & off via Alexa but haven’t found any other use for it since.
