Total Commander is the first real file explorer to make it’s way into the official Fire TV and Fire TV Stick appstore. Sure there are plenty of file explorers, which are probably more feature rich than Total Commander, that you can sideload onto the Fire TV, but it’s nice having one available directly from Amazon. One of the features of most file managers, which Total Commander supports, is that they allow you to sideload apps. Since Total Commander can access USB drives connected to the Fire TV’s USB port, the addition of this app means you can now sideload apps onto the Fire TV without havigng to connect via ADB or a PC utility like adbFire. Total Commander could now be the easiest way to sideload apps onto the Fire TV for some people. Look for a guide up shortly on how to use Total Commander to sideload apps. You can even install plugins for Total Commander to expand its capabilities, like accessing APKs stored in Dropbox or Google Drive.

Hope they fixed the faulty Root access.
I sync ES file explorer via my synology disk station, and I attempted to install kodi from there and It gave me a error. where is said application will be saved to cached to sd card as read-only what does this mean and why can’t I directly install from the google drive account I setup through the cloud service on ES file explorer. Can this app allow you to install apps via dropbox if so provide a tutorial or would you mind testing this method in “Total Commander.”
I always copy over the APK to the local onboard or USB storage before I try to install. Also, which Synology? I’m using a DS410. And what does “Sync to my [diskstation]” mean? I usually just copy the file to the storage.

I guess this app isn’t available in the US. I went to get it and it isn’t available in my geographical area. I verified my area was correct.

I just downloaded it. Easier to find on amazon website on my PC and then downloaded it to my Fire TV box.
I’ve been sideloading total commander for ages, to install apk’s and move files around. nice to see that this excellent file tool finally made it to the amazon store though they could have adapted it a bit, it’s the same version thatha been available from playstore for ages.
