Today is the last day to pre-order Amazon’s Smart Sticky Note Printer for $89.99. Tomorrow, March 19 at 8:59 am PDT, the price will increase to $114.99. This is one of three devices that Amazon introduced to kick off their Kickstarter-like crowdfunding program. The other two devices, a smart nutrition scale and a smart cuckoo clock, have currently only received 61% and 58% of their needed pre-orders, respectively, to be produced, so it doesn’t look like they will actually be released. The smart sticky note printer reached its pre-order goal in only 3 days, so it will be released sometime between July and September of this year. Unlike other crowdfunding platforms, there is no risk with Amazon’s program because you don’t get charged until the device ships, and even then, it’s treated as a standard Amazon purchase so you may return it for a full refund.
I didn’t understand the point of this when it was first announced and I still don’t. I mean just look at the marketing photo on the lower right where it says “Alexa print note” to trigger the printing of a post it note.
Why wouldn’t you just say “Alexa Remind Me”??? Isn’t that the point of Alexa devices to set reminders and alarms etc.?
I don’t know…maybe to remind other people to say maybe, ‘I love you’, posted to a kids lunch bag for school or a note for a wife or husband? Maybe it’s more convenient have a note in front of your face rather than having a reminder by voice that may be missed? While I won’t be getting one, I can see a use for it. Like making Amazon a ton of money on replacement thermal sticky paper. Hahaha
My thoughts exactly about the replacement thermal paper comment.
I don’t get the appeal of this either. Especially since Amazon hasn’t released any information about the cost of the supplies.
I definitely wouldnt need nor want something like this. But I know a lot of nit-pickers, mostly women, that’d absolutely love it.
