Last week, Amazon added local news options to the News app on Fire TV devices. They’re starting with 12 major cities and have said that they expect to expand to nearly 90 cities next year. There is currently a total of 19 different channels representing those 12 initial cities and here is the full list of those channels.

Much like the other national live news options in the Fire TV’s News app, selecting one of the new local live channels will cause an icon for that channel to appear in the “Recent” row of the Fire TV. This allows you to jump directly back into the live stream that you were just watching, without needing to browse around the app each time. With the number of commercials in a typical local news broadcast, being able to hop in and out of the feed easily very handy.
I have the new app on my cube and it has Birmingham Alabama
You must be talking about some other news app. This list is about Amazon’s on news app that comes preloaded on all Fire TV devices. Amazon didn’t include any Alabama cities in their announcement of the new local channels last week and I don’t see that coming up on any of my devices.
But your published list doesn’t list Dallas but Dallas is available.
Opps! Dallas is on The list.
Still no West Palm Beach Florida – WPBF Channel.
People In Wisconsin are human too lol.
Bit I lost my local channel news.
FireOS 6.2.7.7 strangely removes com.amazon.hedwig (News) from their system. Any help adding it back?
Sounds like a bug to me. The only thing I can think of is to factory reset the device.
I somehow deleted the News by Amazon app from one of my firetv’s. I’ve tried resetting to factory settings and updating and it still hasn’t returned. Has anyone else ran into a similar issue and know how to reinstall it?
