Revenge of the Furry is a new tower defense strategy game for Fire TVs, which is a genre that we rarely see released on the platform. XUMO is a new free streaming service that offers over 160 channels of news, comedy, sports, and more. REELZ, which is a TV network focused on true stories and documentaries about celebrities and infamous people, has arrived this week on Fire TV devices. New Fire TV apps of the week — April 7 – 13

This past week there were 51 new apps and games released for Amazon Fire TV devices. TVcade is a collection of 40 arcade games for just $0.99. Many of the included games are replicas of well-known games, like PAC-MAN, Centipede, Tetris, and Frogger. I’m sure they’re not as good as the originals, but with so many included at this price, it’s probably worth it anyway. The Criterion Channel arrives on Fire TV devices this week. The streaming service offers a large collection of classic and contemporary films for $10.99 per month or $99.99 per year. The STAGE Network is another new service that’s now available on Fire TVs. For $4.99 per month or just under $48 annually, you get access to the entire world of theatre, featuring original series, films, live theatre, documentaries, reality shows, variety shows, talk shows, live concerts, and more. New Fire TV apps of the week — Mar 31 – April 6

This past week there were 51 new apps and games released for Amazon Fire TV devices. TMZ has added Fire TV support to their app for celebrity coverage. MagellanTV is a new documentaries streaming service that costs $4.99 per month. FilmRise has continued releasing new categories for their free content, bringing their total to 22 apps. New arrivals this week include apps for Comedy, History, Kids, and more. Speaking of kids, HooplaKidz Plus has arrived with ad-free shows and songs for kids. The service costs $5.99 per month or just under $50 if you pay for a year at once. SFTTV is a new utility that allows you to transfer files between your Fire TV, your phone, and/or your computer over you local network. This past week there were 37 new apps and games released for Amazon Fire TV devices. The most notable app is definitely EPIX NOW, which is the new stand-alone version of the EPIX premium network. For $5.99 a month, the app gives you access to thousands of movies and shows with no traditional TV subscription needed. The Alliance of American Football (AAF) has just released their app to watch the professional football league’s games. Zumba has released an official app that lets you purchase workout videos right on your Fire TV. FilmRise has released 4 more apps with free movies and shows to add to their growing collection of 12 apps. Twister Road is a new never-ending game that’ll test your reflexes by speeding up the further you get down its spinning path. 1 vs 100 is a trivia game modeled after the TV game show of the same name. Neverthink is an app that curates YouTube videos into 40+ different categories to choose from. Just pick a channel and the 100% human picked videos keep flowing. This past week there were 33 new apps and games released for Amazon Fire TV devices. Circuit Crash! is a minimalistic game where you simply control the speed of your car to avoid crashing into other vehicles. The Weather Channel has just released a new ap for all Fire TV devices. You can stream their live coverage of America’s weather, but you’ll need to activate the app with a TV service provider. An Oxygen app for the recently relaunched NBCUniversal cable network has been released. It primarily offers true-crime programs for those with a TV subscription that activates the app. Gravitas Movies is a new app with over 1,000 independent films available to watch. This app is being released by Gravitas Ventures, a film distribution company, and it claims to offer a new movie every day. This past week there were 47 new apps and games released for Amazon Fire TV devices. One of them is an app I released myself called Informer. You can read all about it here in more detail, but it’s essentially an app to identify your Fire TV, tell you about its specs, and tell you about all the new features added through software updates. Xite is a new music video app that offers 100 different channels to keep the music playing. MAXtv is a new IPTV app available for European Fire TV owners with both live channels and on demand content. FilmRise has released 3 more apps this week, adding to the 2 from last week. The first is a Free TV app with over 10,000 free movies and shows to watch. There’s also a SciFi and Action app from FilmRise to check out with more free content. This past week there were 51 new apps and games released for Amazon Fire TV devices. Each Word is a series of new word games, available in English, German, French, and Italian. You use scrambled letters to make as many words as possible to score points. When you’re done, the game shows the words you missed and their definitions to help you learn new words. Discovery Channel has released two new apps for spanish speakers, Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia, for those of you with TV subscriptions to use to activate the apps. FilmRise has just released a new Thriller app and Horror app with free movies and TV shows for fans of the suspenseful genre. This past week there were 36 new apps and games released for Amazon Fire TV devices. Gladiator: Blades of Fury is a new melee fighting game with 20 fighters and 7 environments. Bike Stunt is a line-rider like stunt game with 50 levels. Locast is a new streaming service for local broadcast channels that is free and available in 9 select US cities. MVMNT TV is a streaming media network for “urban intellectuals” with hit shows from the 80’s and 90’s, as well as originals. Fans of South Indian entertainment can try Simply South with over 1,000 movies in Tamil & Malayalam. ONVIF IP Camera Monitor is a network camera viewer that just added Fire TV support.
