Fire TVs can now stream Luna cloud gaming to Twitch using your phone as a webcam and mic

One of the new features announced today for Amazon Luna is the ability to stream your gaming sessions live to Twitch. The new live broadcasting capability is available on PCs and Macs, but also on Fire TVs as well. When playing Luna on a Fire TV, you’ll be shown a QR code to scan with your phone that allows you to set up the Twitch screen. Once set up, you’ll have the option to use your phone as a webcam and mic to overlay on top of your gameplay stream.

Twitch’s data and source code has been leaked

Twitch, Amazon’s video game live streaming service, appears to have had a major security breach. Twitch source code and user data, including 3 years worth of streamer payout figures, have been posted on a 4chan message board. The 125GB leak appears to include the entirety of’s front and backend codebase, and includes code that is as recent as this week. It also includes Twitch’s own internal security tools. Read more ›

Twitch app for Amazon Fire TV receives major redesign with live previews, dark UI, and text/voice chat

The Twitch app for Amazon Fire TV devices has just been updated with a major redesign. Most of Twitch’s signature purple and white color scheme is gone and in its place is a much darker and subdued color palette. The interface has been simplified by removing the navigation menu on the left, making it quicker to jump around the different areas of the app. Functionally, the biggest change is the addition of a video feed of whatever your cursor is on as the app background, making it possible to preview a channel or video before clicking into the full screen view. Twitch has announced a new benefit for Prime members that provides a set of new games for free every month. Amazon first integrated Prime into Twitch, the live streaming video platform that they aquired, over a year ago with Twitch Prime. Amazon Prime members now get ad-free Twitch streaming, free games, and more


Amazon has announced that Prime members will now be able to watch Twitch, the world’s biggest livestreaming platform that’s popular with gamers, without ads, which normally costs $8.99 per month. The new perk is called Twitch Prime and comes with a few additional extras. Prime members also get free digital games, starting with Streamline, as well as free “game loot” like skins, characters, and boosts within games. Other perks include exclusive deals on new game releases. If you’re already a Prime member, all you have to do is link your Amazon and Twitch accounts together by clicking the link at the bottom-right of this page.

Twitch updates their Amazon Fire TV app


Twitch has released an all new app for the Amazon Fire TV. As is starting to be the trend, the new app requires Fire OS 5 which comes pre-installed on the new Fire TV, and should begin arriving on the 1st-gen Fire TV and Fire TV Stick soon. The new app includes some much needed features missing from the old app. Most importantly, you can finally login to your twitch account within the app to see streamers you follow. Speaking of streamers, the new app has new profile pages that give you access to an account’s video library. Also included are chat updates which let you send emotes into chat from the Fire TV.

Watch Fire TV Games at GDC 2015 on Twitch

From 4pm to 7:30pm PT today, Amazon will be streaming live gameplay of several Fire TV games on Twitch. Two Amazon employees will be joined by various developers attending the Game Developers Conference as they play several Fire TV games. The gaming is expected to kick off at 4 pm PT with 2K Games playing XCOM: Enemy Within, followed by Teltale Games playing Game of Thrones Ep. 2 at 5 pm. At 6 pm they’ll be joined by Tripwire Interactive to play upcoming Fire TV game Killing Floor: Calamity and closing up the night with Hipster Whale to play Crossy Road starting at 6:30 pm.
