New Amazon Fire tablet goes through FCC approval

A new tablet that appears to be made by Amazon has just gone through FCC approval with model number and FCC ID 2AWRO-8768, as spotted by TabletMonkeys via Liliputing. Of course, there is nothing explicitly labeling this as a Fire tablet, but it certainly has all the usual signs of being one. While the Fire 7 tablet is the oldest one in Amazon’s linup and the most likely model that will be updated next, there is actually compelling evidence that this is actually a new Fire HD 10, even though one was just released last year. Amazon Fire 7 tablet has been Rooted with Unlocked Bootloader, TWRP Custom Recovery, and Custom ROM

Just a few weeks after the Fire HD 8 had been rooted, that procedure has been applied to the Amazon Fire 7 tablet to give it the full rooting treatment, as first spotted by Liliputing. Amazon’s least expensive tablet has had its bootloader unlocked, TWRP custom recovery created for it, and there’s already even a custom ROM available to install. Read more ›

Lenovo’s Smart Tab with Alexa Show Mode is better than Amazon’s Fire HD 10 in so many ways

One of the most interesting 3rd-party Alexa devices to come out of CES 2019 is easily the new Lenovo Smart Tab line of Android tablets with an included speaker dock. They are the first 3rd-party tablets to use Amazon’s Show Mode feature with hands-free Alexa built-in, which essentially turns them into an Echo Show when docked. Unlike Amazon’s own Show Mode Dock for their Fire tablets, which is nothing more than a charging stand that triggers Show Mode, Lenovo has put Dolby Atmos speakers and 3 far-field microphones in the dock to make this a true alternative to the Echo Show. Amazon has just announced an all-new Fire HD 10 Tablet. The new model is a significant update to the previous version thanks to its 1.8 GHz quad-core CPU that offers a 30% boost in performance over the previous generation. The new Fire HD 10 also bumps the screen up from 720p to 1080p and doubles the RAM to 2 GB. Also included, which is a first for any Amazon tablet, is hands-free Alexa capabilities that let you control the tablet and access all of Alexa’s features without having to press any buttons. A new Amazon tablet has just passed through FCC approval. The tablet carries FCC ID # 2AIP5-3975 and model number SL056ZE. Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet (Refurb) on sale for $119.99 — Lowest Price Ever [Expired]

The Certified Refurbished Amazon Fire HD 10 has just gone on sale for $119.99. That’s $80 less than the price it was yesterday and is the new lowest price this tablet has ever been. This price is for the 16GB model with either a black plastic back or the newer silver aluminum back. The 32GB version in silver aluminum is also on sale for $149.99, which is the same $80 off. This is Amazon’s largest and most powerful tablet. It has a quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU, while the other tablets clock in at 1.3 GHz. It has a micro SD card slot for expandable storage, which makes it a great device for watching movies and TV shows, thanks to offline storage on micro SD cards.

Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet on sale for $64.99 — 2nd lowest price ever [Expired]

Amazon’s Fire HD 8 tablet has just gone on sale for $64.99. This is nearly a “Great” price on my Amazon Hardware Buyer’s Guide because it has only been lower than this price once, which was this was this past Black Friday when it was $5 less. This is the newest tablet in Amazon’s lineup, but it will likely be replaced in the next about two months.

Just because a new model is on the horizon, that doesn’t necessarily make this a bad purchase. Amazon has been on a trend of lowering device specs in order to offer more aggressive pricing, so the future Fire HD 8 is not necessarily going to be better than the current model in every way. The 32GB Fire HD 8 is also on sale at $94.99 and the 16GB Fire 7″ tablet is down to $59.99 right now.

Two new Amazon tablets pass through FCC approval

A pair of new tablets from Amazon have just gone through FCC approval. First spotted by Liliputing, the two tablets have been filed with the FCC under shell companies to try and hide the fact that they are made by Amazon, but there are telltale signs that make it certain these are future Amazon Fire tablets. As is always the case, photos and other revealing aspects of the FCC filing have been held back due to a confidentiality request, but there are still bits of interesting information to learn from the fillings. Fire HD 10 and Fire 7″ tablets on sale at Amazon [Expired]

Amazon has just put several of their tablets on sale. For the most part, these sale prices are not too impressive, but if you’re looking for an easy gift idea for someone, you can’t go wrong with a tablet, and it’s unlikely they’ll be any cheaper than this before Christmas. The Fire 7″ Tablet is $39.99, which falls under the “Okay Price” point according to my buyer’s guide. Prime Day and Black Friday prices are usually around $33 to $35, so this is a usual sale price outside of those special days. The Fire HD 10 tablet is $199.99, which is slightly above my buyer’s guide’s “Okay Price” of $179.99. Oddly enough, this tablet did not go on sale during Prime Day, so while this isn’t a great price overall, it’s as low as you’ll likely see for a while. Lastly, the Fire Kids Tablet is $89.99, which like the other deals, is an “Okay Price” point.
