Amazon’s newest Fire TV Remote goes out of stock in multiple countries

The recently released 3rd-gen Alexa Voice Remote for Fire TV devices has just gone out of stock this morning in the US. The remote is also out of stock in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. It’s unusual for a Fire TV remote to go out of stock at all but even more unusual given that this remote was released less than 4 months ago. My guess is that either Amazon is experiencing manufacturing delays, possibly due to the global chip shortage, or the upcoming new Amazon remote that recently passed through regulatory aproval is actually destined to replace the 3rd-gen Alexa Voice Remote. Amazon Fire TV 3 (Pendant) has gone out of stock — Usually an indicator of a new model coming soon

The Amazon Fire TV 3 (Pendant) has gone out of stock. The product page briefly listed an in-stock date of October 3rd but has now indicates that the 3rd generation Fire TV will return on September 22nd. An Amazon device abruptly going out of stock is easily the strongest indicator that a new model will soon be released. Read more ›

Certified Refurbished 2nd-Gen Fire TV is coming back in stock

The Certified Refurbished 2nd-Gen Fire TV will be back in stock next week and is once again available to order now. Ever since the Fire TV 3 was released, availability of the refurbished Fire TV 2 has been sporadic and very limited. The product listing currently says it will be in stock on June 25th and it’s possible to place an order now to secure one. This might be one of the last chances to buy a Fire TV 2 directly from Amazon, so if you were in the market for a new Fire TV but decided that the Fire TV Cube was not for you, then you might want to snag a Fire TV 2 while you still can. Element’s Fire TV Edition television in 65-inch size is once again available to order

The 65-inch Element Fire TV Edition Television is once again available to order from Amazon. The 65-inch size sold out a couple days after the TVs became available to preorder and has been unavailable to order ever since. The product page currently says the TV will ships within 3 to 5 weeks, but you are now able to place a backorder, which you couldn’t do before. The TV is priced at the regular $899.99, but if you were thinking of also buying an Echo Dot, you can save $30 on the pair by ordering the TV and Echo Dot bundle for $919.99.

Fire TV Stick is finally back in stock on Amazon

The Amazon Fire TV Stick has been backordered for several months on Amazon but its supply has now finally stabilized. It’s now listed as in stock and ready for immediate delivery. I speculated that the reason for the long outage was a combination of the UK and German release, resellers depleting supplies, and a possible supply shortage of voice remotes. Whatever the reason or reasons were for the shortage, you can once again order the Fire TV Stick and expect it to arrive quickly. The Fire TV box is listed as in stock tomorrow.

Amazon sells out of the Element 65″ Fire TV Edition televisions

Amazon has sold out of the Element Fire TV Edition television in the 65-inch size. The product page now says “Currently unavailable” with no indication when the television will be back in stock and no way to place a backorder. A spokesperson for Element told me “we are seeing a high demand on the 65-inch TV so we are sold out at the moment, but are replenishing inventory as soon as possible.” Those who were able to place an order for the $899.99 4K television will still receive their unit on time, when it’s released on June 14th. The 55-inch TV for $649.99, the 50-inch TV for $549.99, and the 43-inch TV for $449.99 are all still in stock and Amazon is still throwing in a free OTA digital antenna with all orders.

Alexa Voice Remote for the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick is back in stock

The Alexa Voice Remote for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick has just come back in stock after being out of stock for about a month. If you’ve been needing to buy a new remote, it’s probably a better idea to spend just $10 more and buy a Fire TV Stick 2, which includes this exact remote, than to buy the remote alone. However, if you prefer to just buy the remote, here’s your chance. This remote has been out of stock and backordered for nearly this entire year, so it’ll be interesting if it remains in stock this time for more than a day. Read more ›

Why the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick have been backordered for so long

If you’re an average Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick owner, chances are you’re unaware that both devices are currently backordered into next month. More so for the Fire TV Stick, but this has been the state of Fire TV supply for most of this year. Having the line of streaming devices go out of stock after a big sale, like Prime Day or Black Friday, is expected, but there must be other reasons for the current outage. Amazon, like any other company, will just tell you supply can’t meet demand, so here’s my speculation on why the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick are so hard to buy these days. Read more ›

UK and Germany probably getting 2nd-Gen Fire TV Stick soon

The 2nd generation Fire TV Stick has been available in the US since October of last year, but Amazon has not released it in other regions yet, like the UK and Germany, where they still sell the 1st generation device. I think this is about to change soon, due to an abrupt supply shortage of Fire TV Sticks in the US. Earlier this week, the 2nd-gen Fire TV Stick suddenly became backordered in the US. Ordering one today won’t see it arrive for over a month. I suspect this is due to Amazon rerouting all supplies to the UK and Germany in preparation for the device’s imminent international launch.
