Amazon always offers a few Alexa-exclusive deals for Prime Day and this year is no exception. These deals must be ordered by voice using Alexa to get these prices. The Luna Controller is $34.99 through Alexa, which is half off the regular price of $69.99. Ordering through Alexa saves you an extra $5 over the current Prime Day deal of $39.99. The Echo Dot w/ Clock is $32.99 through Alexa, which is 45% off the regular price of $59.99. This isn’t on sale for regular Prime Day shopping but my guess is it will be $34.99 if it does go on sale outside of this Alexa-exclusive deal. The Ring Video Doorbell Pro is $119.99, which is 29% off its regular price of $169.99, and the Ring Indoor Cam is $44.99, which is 25% off its regular price of $59.99. Both of those Ring products also aren’t on sale right now unless you use Alexa to order them. If you’re not comfortable buying through Alexa, you can also say “Alexa, add [ITEM] to my cart” and then checkout normally on Amazon. Adding the item to your cart through Alexa and then completing the purchase through the Amazon website will still get you these Alexa-exclusive prices. Read more ›
On sale as an Early Prime Day Deal is the Ring Floodlight Cam Plus for $149.99, which is 25% off the regular price of $199.99. This was $10 cheaper during Black Friday last year, but is likely as low as it will get for Prime Day. It comes in either White or Black and fetures a 1080p security camera with 140 degree field of view. This “Plus” version replaced the original Ring Floodlight last year by upping the floodlight brightness from 1,800 lumens on the original to 2,000 lumens on this newer Plus model and the lights on the new model can now be dimmed. It also has a 105db siren built-in and supports 2.4GHz 802.11n WiFi. This is the hard-wired version, but if you have an outdoor plug near your mounting location, you can instead get the Plug-in version for $20 more to simplify installation.
Amazon has trickled out a few new Early Prime Day Deals today, including the Ring Video Doorbell for $74.99. With a regular price of $99.99, this deal, available for Prime members only, saves you 25% off the regular price. This sale is the new lowest price that this doorbell has ever been, beating out the previous low during Back Friday 2021 by $5. This is the 2nd-generation of Ring’s entry-level doorbell with an improved resolution of 1080p, which is up from 720p on the previous model.
Amazon has released the Amazon Sidewalk Bridge Pro, made by Ring, to help enterprise and commercial locations fill in the gaps of Amazon’s low-bandwidth and long-distance wireless Sidewalk network. The device, when placed in optimal outdoor locations, is said to support hundreds of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices up to five miles away. It’s meant to be used in public spaces, like parks and commercial centers, but can also be used indoors to cover areas like warehouses and large stores. Read more ›
Amazon Sidewalk is a low-bandwidth shared network for devices like trackers and motion sensors to be able to connect to the internet without needing full-fledged Wi-Fi or cellular connections. The connection is intended to emanate from devices you already own, like Echo smart speakers and Ring cameras, which is why it is a bit surprising that Ring appears to be working on a standalone dedicated “Amazon Sidewalk Bridge Pro” device that just appeared in a new Bluetooth regulatory filing last week.
