Amazon has announced an interface redesign for Fire TV devices coming later this year. The new Fire TV Stick 3 and Fire TV Stick Lite will be the first devices to get the redesign, but, according to Amazon’s developer blog, older Fire TV models might not get it until next year. Amazon’s blog post states that “the redesigned Fire TV experience will begin rolling out globally later this year, starting with the new Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite. Additional devices will follow through early 2021.” The post also says that “exact features will vary by country,” which is no surprise since some regions don’t have access to all the capabilities, like Alexa. Amazon does say that the interface redesign “will be available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.” To see the new interface in action, check out this video, and to see all the screenshots released of the new interface, see this post.

Amazon didn’t show off very much of the interface, but the little that they did display can be found in this 1-minute video that I’ve pieced together.

The new interface will first come to the new Fire TV Stick later this year and other existing Fire TV models soon after. Read more ›
