Roku is repackaging Wyze cameras, lights, and plugs as its own branded smart home products

It appears that Roku is getting into the smart home business by branding white-label products from Wyze, according to ZatzNotFunny who has acquired several photos of the unannounced products. Shown in the images are what appear to be the Wyze Cam, Wyze Cam Outdoor, Wyze Cam Pan, Wyze Smart Bulb, Wyze Smart Plug, and Wyze Light Strip all packaged in Roku boxes without any mention of these being Wyze products. Amazon leaks existance of unreleased ‘Halo Rise’ fitness device and 2nd-gen Echo Auto

While looking up information for my Fire HD 8 tablet comparison table I realized that Amazon has prematurely updated its device warranty information page with at least a couple of products that have not been released. The first is an all-new fitness device in Amazon’s Halo lineup called the Halo Rise. The next unreleased addition is an update to Amazon’s car-centric Echo Auto device. There are also a couple of changes to how Fire TV models are listed which could be hinting at new devices in that lineup as well. Read more ›

Pair of possible new Amazon Fire Tablets pass through FCC approval

Amazon has submitted two new FCC filings for a “Wireless Tablet,” as spotted by Liliputing. The two fillings, carrying similar FCC IDs of 2A4DH-2576 and 2A4DH-2578, were approved yesterday. The tablets are marked with nearly identical model numbers R2SP8T and R2SP9T, so they seem to be closely related. Read more ›

Upcoming 1080p Google Chromecast is rumored to cost $29.99

Hints of an upcoming new Google Chromecast with Google TV have been circling around since the start of the year. The device is expected to be cheaper than the existing $49.99 model released in 2020 and only support up to 1080p content. A new report from WinFuture claims that retail sources say the new model has already started arriving at retailers, which indicates the launch is imminent. Further, these sources claim the price of the new device will be €40. Comparing that to the existing 4K Chromecast, which sells for €69.99 in Europe, means the device will likely be $29.99 in the US. Exclusive: Amazon is working on a 3rd-Gen Fire TV Cube code named Gazelle

Amazon’s current flagship Fire TV model, the 2nd-gen Fire TV Cube, was released in late 2019. While it’s still the best-performing Fire TV model and is holding its own among other premium streaming devices, at nearly 3 years old, it’s due for an update. It’ll probably come as no surprise, but I’ve found solid evidence that Amazon is currently working on a 3rd-generation Fire TV Cube under the code name Gazelle. Read more ›

New Amazon Fire tablet goes through FCC approval

A new tablet that appears to be made by Amazon has just gone through FCC approval with model number and FCC ID 2AWRO-8768, as spotted by TabletMonkeys via Liliputing. Of course, there is nothing explicitly labeling this as a Fire tablet, but it certainly has all the usual signs of being one. While the Fire 7 tablet is the oldest one in Amazon’s linup and the most likely model that will be updated next, there is actually compelling evidence that this is actually a new Fire HD 10, even though one was just released last year. 2nd-gen Alexa Voice Remote (left) and 1st-gen Alexa Voice Remote Lite (right)

A new Alexa Voice Remote Lite, which is what Amazon calls the remote that comes with the Fire TV Stick Lite, has just gone through regulatory approval. This remote, which is the only Fire TV remote that does not have buttons to control TV power and volume, was released just over a year ago, yet it seems that Amazon is already gearing up to replace it with a newer version. TaoTronics might be close to releasing a new Fire TV powered Soundbar and Subwoofer

TaoTronics, a Chinese electronics brand, might be working on a new soundbar and subwoofer combo that runs the Fire TV operating system, much like the already available Fire TV soundbars from TCL and Nebula. TaoTronics has had no prior association with a Fire TV product, that I’m aware of, yet a new entry has just been added to the Fire TV Source Code Notice page for an unreleased product labeled as “TaoTronics_SoundbarSubwoofer_FireTVEdition.” Read more ›

Ring appears to be preparing a dedicated Amazon Sidewalk Bridge Pro device

Amazon Sidewalk is a low-bandwidth shared network for devices like trackers and motion sensors to be able to connect to the internet without needing full-fledged Wi-Fi or cellular connections. The connection is intended to emanate from devices you already own, like Echo smart speakers and Ring cameras, which is why it is a bit surprising that Ring appears to be working on a standalone dedicated “Amazon Sidewalk Bridge Pro” device that just appeared in a new Bluetooth regulatory filing last week.
