Fox, Fox Sports, ESPN, and Haystack News are now integrated into the Fire TV’s Live tab and Channel Guide

The Fire TV’s live TV interface, which consists of the “Live” tab and the built-in channel guide, has expanded once again with new services that have integrated their live channels. The Fox app has integrated its live local channels, various Fox Sports channels, Fox News, Fox Business, and Big Ten network. The ESPN app has integrated its live cable network channels, for those with a TV provider subscription, as well as its ESPN+ live streams. The Haystack News app has integrated dozens of live news channels. These new additions bring the number of integrated apps and services to 30, which you can find listed here. Read more ›

FOX NOW app adds support for 1st-gen Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

If you were bummed that the FOX NOW app didn’t support older devices still running Fire OS 3 when it was released last week, you’ve got reason to celebrate. Fox has just updated the app to now support all Fire TV devices, regardless of whether it’s new or old and regardless of which version of Fire OS it’s running. The new NBC app also supports all Fire TV devices, and has done so since it launched. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the CBS app or ABC app. The former only supports devices running Fire OS 5, while the latter still only works on 1st-gen Fire TVs. Big thanks to a comment from Jonny for tipping me off on this change.

FOX has just released their FOX NOW for Amazon Fire TV devices. The app is unfortunately only compatible with Fire TV models running Fire OS 5, which include the 2nd-gen Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote. For those without cable, new episodes will be available for free with ads 8 days after they originally air. Read more ›
