Get these Roku Black Friday Deals
Roku has put several of their streaming media players on sale for Black Friday. If you’ve been thinking of giving the platform a try, these sales make it the best time to do so because all of these deals are the lowest prices that these devices have ever been. The Roku Premiere is on sale for $24.00, down from its regular price of $39.99. It’s the cheapest 4K media player you can get but be warned that this low price comes at the expense of a cheap remote which must be pointed at the box and does not have voice capabilities or TV controls. For those reasons, you’re much better off paying $5 more and getting the Roku Streaming Stick+ for $29.00, which normally sells for $49.99. While it’s the oldest model in Roku’s line up, having come out in 2017, Roku keeps it around because it gets the job done of being the closest competitor to the Fire TV Stick 4K and has an equally capable remote that can control your TV, doesn’t need to be pointed, and has voice search. At the top of Roku’s line up is the Roku Ultra on sale for $69.00, which normally sells for $99.99. Compared to the Roku Streaming Stick+, the Ultra adds Dolby Vision, an Ethernet port, a USB port for external media access, and a headphone jack to the remote. Lastly, the Roku Streambar is on sale for $99.99, which is down the least at just $30 off of its regular price of $129.99. The Roku Streambar is essentially a Roku Streaming Stick+ packed into a tiny soundbar.
Get the Shield TV for $129
The NVIDIA Shield TV is on sale for $129 for Black Friday. At just $21 off of the regular price of $149.99, it’s not much of a discount but it does match the lowest price that the latest 2019 cylindrical Shield TV has ever been. The new triangular remote is a bit odd, but certainly better than the one that came with the older Shield TV that it replaced. The only streaming device running Android TV that beats the Shield TV in specs is the Shield TV Pro, which is, unfortunately, not on sale. Unless you’re planning to run 64-bit apps, memory-hungry apps, or a Plex Server on the device, you’re likely not going to see much of a difference between the two models.
Get a Lifetime Plex Pass for 25% off
Plex is offering a rare discount on their Plex Pass subscription for Black Friday. Enter code SURVIVETHESEASON during checkout to receive 25% off a Lifetime Plex Pass. That brings the one-time cost for access to all of Plex’s premium features down from $119.99 to $89.99. Compared to the never-ending monthly Plex Pass cost of $4.99, you’ll have paid off the lifetime Plex Pass after 18 months and never pay anything again. Plex is the best media player for accessing all of your personal movies, shows, music, and photos, from all of your devices. While apps like Kodi and MrMC do much of the same, I’ve personally switched over to Plex for its unified database that keeps all of my devices in sync and for its simplicity, especially for accessing my media outside of the home. Most of Plex’s features are free, but a few premium features require a Plex Pass. Some of those premium features that I use most are hardware transcoding, which is a must for accessing content outside of your home network, TV show intro skipping, and remote content downloading, which comes in very handy when poor cellular/wifi speeds are too low to stream. If you are already using or are planning to use Plex for all of your personal media, the one-time lifetime subscription is definitely the way to go and this sale is the best time to buy it.
Get the Fire HD 10 for $79.99
Amazon has put the Fire HD 10 Tablet on sale for $79.99 for Black Friday. This matches the lowest price the tablet has ever been, which is $70 off of the regular price of $149.99. We first saw this price during Prime Day last month and here it is now for anyone, including non-Prime members, to take advantage of. The Fire HD 10 is Amazon’s best tablet and features a 10.1″ 1920×1200 (1080p) screen, an 8-core 2.0 GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, USB-C charging, and a microSD card slot for expanded storage. There is also a 64GB model that is on sale for $119.99, a discount of $70 off of its regular price of $189.99. Amazon has not put the Fire HD 8, Fire HD 8 Plus, or Fire 7 tablets on sale, but they may be saving those discounts for closer to actual Black Friday. They do have all of the Kids Edition Tablets on sale for $59.99, $79.99, and $129.99 for the 7in, 8in, and 10in models.
If you’re in the market for a new TV, nearly every Fire TV Edition television has gone on sale for Black Friday. In the list below, I’ve labeled all of the sets that are at their lowest prices ever, which is most of the sizes and variations. These TVs come with the Fire TV interface built-in. The advantage of that over just connecting a Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Cube to a regular TV is mainly the simplicity of having one remote that does everything and having the built-in OTA tuner integrated directly into the Fire TV’s interface. Here is the full list of all TVs that are on sale. Read more ›
Get the new Echo Dot for $28.99
Amazon has put all of their new 4th-gen Echo Dots, in multiple configurations, on sale for the first time for Black Friday. At least expensive is the Echo Dot with a Free Smart Bulb for $28.99. The Echo Dot is normally $49.99 on its own and the bulb usually ads another $10, so you’re saving $31 with this bundled deal. Alternatively, you can pay an extra $5 to get the Echo Dot with a Smart Plug for $33.99, but you give up the free bulb. The Echo Dot with Clock and Free Smart Bulb is $38.99 and that too is available with a Smart Plug instead for $5 extra. If you want the new Echo Dot with a fun tiger or panda face print, the Echo Dot Kids Edition is $38.99 and includes a 1-year subscription to Amazon Kids+, as well as a 2-year worry-free replacement guarantee. There are no free bulbs with the Kids Edition, but you can add the Echo Glow smart light for just $10. Lastly, the older 3rd-gen Echo Dot with a Free Smart Bulb is $18.99 and it too can be had with a Smart Plug instead for $5 extra. All of these prices are the lowest they have ever been and it’s the first time that the new spherical 4th-gen Echo Dots have ever been on sale.
Get the new Amazon Echo for $69.99
Amazon has gone live with their Black Friday deals on most of their devices, including most Echos. The all-new 4th-gen Amazon Echo is on sale for $69.99 and Amazon is throwing in 2 Philips Hue smart bulbs for free. The Echo normally costs $99.99 and the bulbs would be an additional $30, so you’re saving $60 with this discounted bundle. This is the first time that the new spherical Echo has ever been on sale. It may be hard to differentiate them in pictures, but the Amazon Echo, at 5.7 inches wide, is considerably larger than the similar-looking new Echo Dot and, therefore, sounds much better. This latest version of the Amazon Echo comes in 4 colors, Charcoal, White, Blue, and a limited edition (PRODUCT) RED that was just made available last week. All colors cost the same. While the included Philips Hue bulbs normally require a Hue Hub to work, the Echo has a built in hub so it allows you to control these bulbs without the need of a seperate hub. If that’s too pricey, the Echo Dot with a free bulb is on sale for $28.99 and if you want better audio, the Echo Studio with 2 free bulbs is on sale for $159.99.
Get the Fire TV Stick 4K for $29.99
All of Amazon’s Black Friday Prices for Fire TV devices have already gone live. Among the best deal is the Fire TV Stick 4K for $29.99. While it has been $5 less in the past and is the oldest model in Amazon’s Fire TV line up, I still consider it the best Fire TV Stick to buy today. The extra $12 you pay over the Fire TV Stick Lite, which is on sale for $17.99, gets you Amazon’s most capable remote which can control your TV’s power, volume, and more. The extra $2 over the Fire TV Stick 3, which is on sale for $27.99, is a no brainer because you get 4K capabilities, 50% more RAM, and Dolby Vision support. The one and only disadvantage to the Fire TV Stick 4 K over the other Fire TV models is that it is running the slightly older Fire OS 6 instead of Fire OS 7, which is on all of the other devices. It will hopefully get upgraded to the newer OS in the future, but it doesn’t make much of a difference anyway. Bottom line, if you need to save the extra $12, get the Fire tv Stick Lite, otherwise, get the Fire TV Stick 4K or step it up to the Fire TV Cube on sale for $79.99 to get the best Fire TV. The Fire TV Stick 4K is on sale for £29.99 in the UK and CDN$ 44.99 in Canada.
Get the Fire TV Stick Lite for $17.99
Currently on sale for Black Friday is the all-new Fire TV Stick Lite for $17.99, which is the lowest price that it has ever been. This is the latest Fire TV Stick that was just released a couple of months ago in September. If you just need 1080p video capabilities and don’t care about TV power and volume buttons on the remote, the Fire TV Stick Lite is a fantastic streaming device. It performs on par with all of the other Fire TV Stick models, so you’re not giving up much going with Amazon’s least expensive streaming device. If you want the more capable remote that can control your TV and sound system, you’re better off skipping the Fire TV Stick 3, which is on sale for $27.99, and spend the extra $2 for the Fire TV Stick 4K, which is on sale for $29.99. Even if you don’t have a 4K TV, the Fire TV Stick 4K is the better option due to having 50% more memory. The Fire TV Stick Lite is on sale for £19.99 in the UK and CDN$ 29.99 in Canada.
Get the Fire TV Stick 3 for $27.99
All Fire TV devices are already on sale for Amazon’s Black Friday including the 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick for $27.99. This is the all-new 1080p Fire TV Stick that was released less than 2 months ago. It slots in between the Fire TV Stick Lite, which is on sale for $17.99, and the Fire TV Stick 4K, which is on sale for $29.99. This 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick shares the exact same hardware as the Fire tv Stick Lite. You can read about all the differences between all three Fire TV Stick models here. The main difference between the Fire TV Stick 3 and the Fire TV Stick Lite is the remote, which witht he Fire TV Stick 3 has buttons to control your TV’s power and volume. If that’s important to you, you’re probably better off getting the Fire TV Stick 4K, which for only $2 more gives you the same remote and adds 4K support and more memory. The 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick is on sale for £24.99 in the UK and CDN$ 34.99 in Canada.
