The Amazon Smart Plug is on sale for $12.99 as an early Prime Day Deal. This sale is nearly half off the regular price of $24.99 and is the new lowest price that Amazon’s smart plug has ever been. Amazon quietly updated this plug last year and this is the latest model. This smart plug doesn’t do anything special compared to the dozens of other smart plugs on the market, but its advantage comes in its simplicity because it comes pre-linked to your Amazon account. This simplifies installation and will actually automatically connect it to your WiFi if you’ve saved your WiFi password to Amazon in the past. There’s also the advantage of not needing to use a separate app for this plug since it is set up and controlled through the Alexa app. Overall, if you just need a basic smart plug to control something’s power remotely or by voice, it’s tough to beat the Amazon Smart Plug, especially at this all-time low price. Note that you can also get the Amazon Smart Plug + Echo Dot bundle for just $24.99. Read more ›
Most Amazon Black Friday deals have been live for several days but a few new ones are just barely trickling out this morning. Amazon released new Kids Echo bundles this morning and a few new Fire TV Smart TVs also dropped further in pricea few hours ago. Another new deal for today is the Amazon Smart Plug for $14.99, which is 40% off its regular price of $24.99. This sale matches the lowest price Amazon’s own smart plug has ever been. While this isn’t the least expensive smart plug on the market or the one with the most features, what you get by choosing it over others is simplification. That’s because it comes pre-linked to your account and, if you’ve previously saved your Wi-Fi password with Amazon while setting up a new device, Alexa should be able to configure the plug in seconds by powering it on and saying “Alexa, find my device.” There’s also the advantage of needing to only use the Alexa app for everything related to this plug, instead of yet another 3rd-party smart home app.
While rounding up the new batch of early Prime Day deals on smart home devices that went live this morning, I realized that Amazon has quietly updated the Amazon Smart Plug. The old model, which used the “Amazon” text logo on top, has been replaced with a new model that just has the Amazon arrow logo on top. While the specs and exterior dimensions are the same between the two versions, the guts inside have certainly changed with the 2nd-generation model because it has a new model number, it required new FCC approval, and the weight of the device has been reduced from 98 grams for the old model to 81 grams for the new model. Amazon has continued their early Prime Day deals with the release of several more Amazon device deals today. While we saw Fire TV Edition televisions go on sale last week, today’s deals are focused on home security devices, like Ring and Blink security cameras, and smart home devices, like Amazon’s Smart Plug and Eero mesh Wifi routers. Every one of these deals is the lowest price that the item has ever been, with many of them being new all-time low prices. So, if you’ve been thinking of getting any of these items, now is absolutely the best time to buy them. Here’s a list of all the new deals. Read more ›
Get this Echo Dot + Smart Plug Deal
Amazon has sweetened the deal that they began offering last week. You can now get the 3rd-Gen Echo Dot + Amazon Smart Plug for just $39.99. That’s an extra $10 off the price from last week. The all-new Echo Dot is normally $49.99 on its own, so you’re essentially saving $10 on the Echo Dot and getting the smart plug for free, which regularly costs $24.99 on its own. That’s a total of $34.99 off of the pair. Also on sale is the Amazon Echo Show w/ Free Smart Bulb for $189.99, which is $40 off of its regular price.
Among the numerous Amazon devices that are currently on sale is the Amazon Smart Plug for $14.99. This is the first time that it has ever been offered this low on its own. It’s normally $24.99 and has been as low as $19.99 in the past, but it has never been 40% off, as it is right now. Like all other smart plugs, this allows you to control any outlet with Alexa or your smartphone. The big advantage I’ve found for Amazon’s plug, versus other smart plugs, is its ease of setup. It works through the Alexa app that you likely already have installed, so it’s nice not to need yet another app just for the plug. After plugging the Amazon Smart Plug in, your Alexa device will automatically find it and all you really need to do is give it a custom name that’s appropriate to what you plan to plug into it. All smart plugs essentially work the same way, but they’re just slightly simpler to manage when they’re controlled with an app you’re already used to using, like the Alexa app.
The $14.99 price only lasted for one day. The plug is now on sale for $19.99
Amazon has announced their own Amazon Smart Plug to add voice control to any outlet. The plug can be controlled by Alexa or through any mobile device through the Alexa app. It features a compact design that lets you stack two plugs in one outlet, or leave the other outlet accessible. It’s available to pre-order now for $24.99 and will arrive on October 11th. Read more ›
