2nd-gen Echo Buds increase to $119.99 among positive reviews as 1st-gen Echo Buds decrease to $79.99

The introductory pricing period for the 2nd-gen Echo Buds, which dropped their price down to $99.99, appears to have ended. At midnight this morning, the new wireless earbuds from Amazon increased to their regular list price of $119.99 to coincide with today’s release. A few hours later, the 1st-gen Echo Buds dropped from their list price of $129.99 to $79.99, which matches the lowest price they’ve ever been. Reviews for the new Echo Buds are fairly positive and generally conclude that they’re great for the price but you can do better if you’re willing to spend $50-$70 more. Chris Welch from The Verge scored the new Echo Buds an 8.5 out of 10, whereas he gave the old ones an 8.0. Engadget’s Billy Steele scored the new earbuds an 80 out of 100 and the old ones a 73.

Amazon has announced the all-new 2nd-gen Echo Buds. The new models, now available in either matte black or matte white, are 20% smaller with active noise cancellation. They’re regularly priced at $119.99 with a USB-C charging case, but an introductory price currently drops them to just $99.99 for a limited time. Alternatively, you can get them with a wireless charging case for $139.99 regularly, but the introductory price drops that to $119.99. The Echo Buds, Amazon’s wireless earbuds with Alexa integrated, are getting fitness tracking capabilities. Built-in accelerometers can now track steps to calculate the distance, pace, and calories burned during runs and walks. Workouts can be tracked by saying “Alexa, start my run” and progress can be checked by saying “Alexa, how far have I run?” Fitness data and additional information can be viewed in the Alexa app. Amazon Echo Buds are currently on sale for $79.99 for Black Friday, which is $50 off of their regular price of $129.99. This matches the lowest price that they have ever been. Echo buds offer Bose active noise reduction and hands-free Alexa. They last for up to 5 hours of music playback on their own and the battery built into the included carrying case can extend that to 20 hours. Popping them into the case for 15 minutes will charge them for 2 hours of use.
