How to redeem your Free 1-Year Blink Subscription Plus Plan for Amazon Cloud Cam owners

To help make up for discontinuing its Cloud Cam security camera, Amazon is giving all Cloud Cam owners a free Blink Mini per Cloud Cam you own and a free 1-year subscription to its Blink Plus Plan. Amazon informed Cloud Cam owners last week that they could now redeem their free cameras and subscription. While the free Blink Mini cameras were easy to redeem, many people had trouble getting the $100 1-year subscription for free because Amazon left out a crucial step in its instructional email. Here is what you need to do to redeem your free subscription. Read more ›

Amazon gives all Cloud Cam owners free Blink Mini cameras — Check your email

Earlier this year, Amazon informed owners of its Cloud Cam security camera that the device would no longer be supported after December 2, 2022, leaving all Cloud Cams inoperable. To make up for the lost functionality, Amazon said it would be giving all Cloud Cam owners free Blink Mini cameras. Amazon has now sent out emails with instructions to redeem the free Blink Mini cameras, as well as a free 1-year subscription to its Blink Subscription Plus Plan. Read more ›

If you have an Amazon Cloud Cam not being used, you might want to set it up for the year

If you haven’t heard, Amazon is ending support for its Cloud Cam security camera in December, which will cause all cameras to stop working entirely. To make up for the relatively short lifespan of the camera, Amazon is giving Cloud Cam customers a free Blink Mini camera sometime between now and the end of the year. Something that Amazon left out of the email it sent to customers, which it shared with The Verge, is that free Blink Mini cameras will be given to customers that are “still actively using their Cloud Cam.” That likely means that simply having bought a Cloud Cam doesn’t ensure you’ll receive the free Blink Mini camera. So, if you have any Cloud Cams that aren’t powered on but want to ensure you receive the free camera, you might want to set them up and use them at least once a month until Amazon sends out instructions for how to receive the free Blink Mini cameras. It’s unclear if Amazon will be providing multiple free Blink Mini cameras for those that own multiple Cloud Cams.

Amazon is sending emails to owners of its Cloud Cam security camera informing them that the camera will stop working on December 2, 2022. Amazon Cloud Cam will be $59.99 (50% off) for Prime Day — Blink cameras will also be on sale

An Amazon representative has informed me that the Amazon Cloud Cam will be on sale for $59.99 during Prime Day next week. That price is 50% off the regular price and will be the new lowest price that Amazon has ever sold their security camera. For comparison, the Cloud Cam was $99.99 during Black Friday last year and reached an all-time low price of $89.99 during a sale in December. It is unknown if Amazon will offer additional discounts for customers who purchase multiple cameras, like they are currently offering. Currently, if you buy two cameras you’ll save an additional $40 and you’ll save an additional $70 if you buy 3 cameras. Amazon usually temporarily suspends multi-unit discounts when they hold major sales like Prime Day, but there have been instances where a sale price and a multi-unit discount have stacked together to provide double discounts in the past, so we’ll have to wait and see. Since Amazon acquired Blink last year, they will also be putting Blink security cameras on sale during Prime Day. The Blink XT 1 Camera System will be on sale for $74.99, which is down from $129.99, and the Blink XT 2 Camera System will be on sale for $139.99, which is down from $229.99. Both of those prices will be significantly lower than those camera systems have ever been in the past.

Amazon adds scheduled on/off to Cloud Cam and increases digital zoom

Amazon has added a couple new features to their Cloud Cam security camera. First spotted by AndroidPolice, the Cloud Cam app (Android | iOS) has been updated with a new option to automatically turn the camera on or off at a set schedule. Amazon’s Cloud Cam has always had the option to set the camera to automatically turn on when you leave the house and turn off when you’re home, but now owners also have the option to use a simple fixed schedule. The other change with this latest update is an increase of the camera’s digital zoom from 4x to 8x to make it easier to spot tiny or distant objects in the camera feed.
