Amazon announces new Fire TV Recast — a DVR for Fire TVs, Echo Shows, and Mobile devices

Amazon has just announced the Fire TV Recast, a DVR an over-the-air DVR that can stream live or recorded channels from an antenna to Fire TV devices, the Echo Show, and both Android and iOS mobile devices. Amazon announces new 2nd-gen Echo Show

Amazon has announced a new 2nd-generation Echo Show. The new model improves on the last model in nearly every way. It’s much better looking and has a front that is dominated by a large 10.1-inch HD touchscreen. It features premium sound through a pair of side firing speakers behind the display. It’s available to pre-order now for $229.99 in Charcol or Sandstone colors and will arrive on October 11th. Buying 2 at the same time will automatically take $100 off at checkout. Read more ›

Amazon announces Echo Link and Echo Link Amp

Amazon has announced the Echo Link and Echo Link Amp for audiophiles who want to add Alexa music streaming to their high-end audio equipment. The Echo Link provides multiple audio in and out connections, including coaxial, RCA, and optical. It also has a subwoofer out connection and an Ethernet port for its connectivity. On the front is a headphone out jack and a large volume dial. The Echo Link Amp features the same ports but adds a pair of left and right speaker connections that are used with the built-in 60W two-channel amplifier. The Echo Link will be $199.99 when it’s released and the Echo Link Amp will be $299.99. Neither one is available to pre-order yet, but you can sign up to be notified when they’re available.

Amazon announces Echo Input — An alternative to the Echo Dot for adding Alexa to existing speakers

Amazon has announced the Echo Input. It’s essentially an Echo Dot but without the built-in speaker. It’s the most affordable way to add Alexa to existing speakers. It includes far-field microphones for hands-free Alexa, as well as a mute and action button on the top. Amazon announces new Echo Wall Clock

Amazon has announced a new Echo Wall Clock. Much like the new AmazonBasics Microwave with Alexa capabilities, the Echo Wall Clock does not actually have Alexa built-in, nor does it have microphones or a speaker in the device itself. Instead, it falls into the Alexa Gadget category of devices and serves as a companion to Echo devices to serve as a visual indicator for Alexa timers and reminders. Read more ›

Amazon announces new AmazonBasics Microwave with Alexa

The rumors were true, Amazon has announced an Alexa microwave. The AmazonBasics Microwave with Alexa is a 0.7 cu. ft. microwave with 700W of power that you can control with your voice. Alexa isn’t actually built-into the microwave, meaning there are no microphones or speakers in the microwave. Instead, the microwave responds to commands from your Echo devices, but it does take Alexa integration a bit further than you might think. Amazon announces Echo Auto — Their first Alexa device for your car

Amazon has announced the Echo Auto as their first device to add Alexa to your car. It’s a relatively tiny device that sits on your dash and provides hands-free Alexa capabilities through its array of 8 microphones. Amazon is adding in a lot of new car-specific capabilities to Alexa, like navigation directions that appear on your phone through Waze and Apple Maps integration, so they’re not quite ready to sell the Echo Auto to everyone. That’s why it’s currently only available by invite. It will be $49.99 when it’s released, but those who receive an invite to purchase will pay only $24.99 during the introductory period. Read more ›

Amazon has announced their own Amazon Smart Plug to add voice control to any outlet. The plug can be controlled by Alexa or through any mobile device through the Alexa app. It features a compact design that lets you stack two plugs in one outlet, or leave the other outlet accessible. Amazon announces new Echo Sub — A subwoofer accessory for the Echo and Echo Plus

Amazon has announced the Echo Sub, a new subwoofer accessory that can be wirelessly paired with either a 2nd-gen Amazon Echo or the new 2nd-gen Echo Plus to add more bass to your music. It features a 6-inch downward-facing subwoofer with 100 watts of power. It can also be used with a pair of Echos to create a stereo 2.1 sound system, where each Echo acts as either the left or right channel. The Echo Sub is available to pre-order now for $129.99 and will arrive on October 11th.
