Mirroring360 AirPlay Receiver, an app which allows your Fire TV to receive wireless AirPlay audio and video from Macs and iOS devices, has just gone on sale for $1.09. This is the first time this app has dropped below it’s regular price of $6.99 since its release last month. The app is created by Splashtop, who offer some great remote access software, but surprisingly has poor reviews. I haven’t tried this app myself, as I personally use AirReceiver and have been very happy with it. One thing to keep in mind with any AirPlay app for the Fire TV is that they are all essentially hacks. The AirPlay protocol is not an open standard, so all the AirPlay apps for the Fire TV have essentially reverse engineered the protocol to allow its use on non-Apple devices. So no AirPlay app on the Fire TV will ever be as rock solid as an Apple TV.

If you have an iPhone, iPod, or iPad in the house, this is a must have app. I have personally tried all of the AirPlay options for the Fire TV and have found this app to be the best solution. The app allows you to stream audio or video from iPhones, iPads, and iPods to the Fire TV. You can also mirror your entire iOS device’s screen onto your Fire TV. The app will also allow you to use your Fire TV as a second monitor, wirelessly, for your Apple computer.
