$29.99 gets you a 1 Year Discovery+ Subscription and a Free Fire TV Stick Lite — Savings of $50

Discovery+ is currently running a new promotion where you can get a 1-year subscription to its ad-supported plan for $29.99 and they will throw in a free Fire TV Stick Lite. The regular price of that plan is $49.99 and the regular price of the Fire TV stick is $29.99, so this promotion saves you about $50. Realistically though, the Fire TV Stick Lite is on sale right now for $19.99 and it was $17.99 a few weeks ago during Black Friday, so this promotion is really like getting the Discovery+ 1-year subscription for around $12, which is still a pretty good deal. Unfortunately, there isn’t a similar offer for the ad-free plan or for any other Fire TV models. Read on for instructions to get this deal. Read more ›

Discovery+ subscription is on sale for $0.99/month for 2 months through Prime Video Channels

Prime Video Channels has a new deal where you can subscribe to Discovery+ for $0.99/month for 2 months. This is for the ad-supported plan, which normally costs $4.99/month. The ad-free plan costs $6.99/month and is not on sale. Note that, unlike most Prime Video Channel subscriptions, subscribing to Discovery+ through Prime Video Channels does not currently give you access to the Discovery+ app. You’ll only be able to stream through the main Fire TV interface or through the Prime Video app on any device. One thing the Prime Video Channel subscription of Discovery+ does give you, however, is access to 11 live streaming channels which will be integrated into the Fire TV’s live program guide. This offer ends tomorrow, Sept. 15.

WarnerMedia, along with HBO, is merging with Discovery

As if the rumored purchase of MGM by Amazon wasn’t a big enough shift in the media industry, AT&T has announced that it will be spinning off its media business WarnerMedia, which includes HBO, into a new company that will merge with Discovery. Once regulators sign off on the merger, the new unnamed company will be in control of media properties such as HBO, CNN, TBS, TNT, Discovery Channel, Food Network, TLC, HGTV, and many more. It will be the second-largest media company in terms of revenue, second only to Disney.

Discovery+ integrates 11 live channels into Fire TV’s channel guide

Discovery+ is now integrating 11 live linear channels into the Fire TV’s channel guide and Live tab, but there’s a catch. You can currently only get this integration if you subscribe to the service through the Discovery+ Prime Video Channel. Also, these live channels aren’t what you think they are, which is probably a live feed of their traditional cable channels. Instead, they are channels playing nothing but an individual show, or two, all day 24/7. Read more ›

Discovery, Food, HGTV, TLC, Animal Planet, and more might be bundled in new streaming service

Discovery Communications merged with Scripps Networks Interactive earlier this year to become Discovery, Inc with 17 popular networks under its belt, which include Discovery, Food Network, HGTV, TLC, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, Oprah Winfrey Network, Science Channel, Cooking Channel, DIY Network, and more. CEO David Zaslav has now said he is considering offering all 17 channels as a new streaming service bundle. A possible price of $5 to $8 per month was mentioned for the hypothetical subscription. A timetable for the service has not been mentioned, but it seems inevitable that all major TV networks will eventually have a direct-to-consumer offering.
