Sling TV streaming is now available on the Echo Show 15

Sling TV has announced that the internet TV service is now available on the Echo Show 15. The streaming service’s arival on Echo Show devices was promised back in September of last year, when the Echo Show 15 was announced. Amazon said, at the time, that Sling TV would eventually be available on all Echo Show models, but only the Echo Show 15 is supported at this time. To use the service, simply say “Alexa, open Sling TV” to get started. Once set up, you’ll be able to say “Alexa, tune to [CHANNEL NAME] on Sling TV” to watch a specific channel. Sling TV joins a number of streaming services to add support for the Echo Show, including Netflix, Hulu, Tubi, and others. To see all the video streaming options on an Echo Show, say “Alexa, open Video Home” or swipe down from the top of the screen and select the Video shortcut icon

Come on Amazon, release it to the other Echo Shows in time for March Madness. Really.

  2. TechyChris says:

Can someone enlighten me as to who this is marketed for? The Echo Show 15 appears, at least on the surface, to be an over-priced 1080p tablet mounted inside a picture frame. Or Am I missing something? Why would I want to limit my 4k subscription app viewing to 1080p? I have a 32″ 4k tv AND a Firestick 4k MAX “neatly” mounted on my kitchen wall both of which together cost less than the $250 asking price for the Echo Show and it’s 15.6″ screen. So, what’s the appeal? Not hating, generally curious why this device exists.

    • Think of the Echo Show 15 being able to stream Sling TV like the Nintendo Switch being able to stream Hulu. Nobody is buying either one for their video streaming capabilities, but it’s a nice feature to have in certain scenarios. Your setup is certainly better if you mainly want to watch videos in your kitchen, but nobody is buying the Echo Show 15 mainly for video streaming, so the two aren’t really comparable in that sense.
