Quibi streaming service to shut down around December 1st

The short-form streaming service Quibi has announced that it will be shutting down “on or about December 1, 2020.” Despite having just released a Fire TV app last week, it’s too little too late for the service that launched in April of this year. If you’re interested in any of the service’s original content, which Quibi spent over $1 billion to create, this may be your last chance to find it all in one place. Quibi is still offering a 14-day free trial.

“Quibi is still offering a 14-day free trial”…
I care nothing about this service but was curious about that statement…
Sure enough, the front page of their website STILL says 14 day free trial then plans starting at $4.99 per month. For a company that went belly up and is shutting down in a matter of weeks??? They should be arrested for theft! I hope nobody is foolish enough to give these fools there credit card info and hard earned cash.

In most companies, incompetence and poor communication are much more likely than intentional fraud or serious deception. This is likely a “left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing” situation.

The fact they just released the Fire TV app mean that only the top management was aware of the imminent shutdown, and the mid and lower level management had no idea.

I expect the website will be updated this week, and anyone paying in the mean time will be refunded.
