Amazon has just announced the all-new Fire TV Cube. It’s available to pre-order now for $119.99 but if you’re a Prime member, you can buy it for just $89.99 if you place your order today or tomorrow, June 7th & 8th. At 25% off, that savings of $30 is pretty significant, so you won’t want to miss it. These Prime-only discounts for pre-ordering a new Amazon device are typically the lowest prices that we ever see for the new device. You can purchase up to 3 Fire TV Cubes at the discounted price.
If you’re not a Prime member, you can sign-up for a free 30-day trial to be immediately eligible for the $30 discount. You can decide later if you want to keep Prime or cancel within the 30-day trial to not pay anything extra. Additionally, not specific to Prime members, Amazon is giving everyone who buys and registers a Fire TV Cube by July 1st a free $10 credit to spend on Amazon Video rentals or purchases. You’ll receive an email with your $10 credit after you first log in to the Fire TV Cube with your Amazon account.
I’m disappointed no optical out but I ordered one anyway to save $30. Hopefully it will properly process HDMI pass through so DTS will actually work on my receiver.
The product page does say that it supports audio passthrough.
Firetv2 also supports passthrough, however, it only works with Dolby formats. DTS does not passthrough on firetv2. I expect this to work the same (sadly).
How does this compare to the other models spec-wise. I did not upgrade to the newer Fire TV because they lowered the specs to keep the price reasonable. I seek your opinion
Same as the dongle
I hate how Amazon stopped showing love to us overseas. I have a U.S. Address and I am a Prime Member. But they will not ship it to me. It was possible with the first generation Fire TV. Not anymore. Also, this is not available for pre-order in Germany, so I am stuck.
Logged in to my Prime Account and there is no option to pre-order, just “see all buying options” which doesn’t take me anyplace.
Looks like they pulled it for some reason
Still displays this on top of page:
“Welcome to hands-free TV. Prime members can pre-order Fire TV Cube for an introductory price of $119.99 $89.99. Offer ends June 8th at 11:59 PM EST.”
But no place to actually do it.
Page now allows pre-ordering but at full price, no discount. Amazon has gone bonkers.
Seems like it was a rogue issue that lasted only a few minutes. It has been fixed for a while now.
Good deal, But unfortunately this thing is the perfect streamer for 2015.
Kind of disappointed vs the Shield or Apple TV Hardware wise.
We all already own Echo dots. Literally we all own them. It also can’t replace say a Logitech harmony. That would have been interesting and is what they should have done.
I’m not surprised it can’t do anything more the existing Fire TV 3 just disappointed. I guess we’re never going to have a Shield competitor that can do anything more than basic audio with Plex. That makes sense for Amazon just wish they’d throw us a freaking bone and surprise announce dts or vision support. Not like we don’t buy enough cr*** from them weekly. Oh well.
Hopefully the 3 Will go on sale soon so I can pick up one for my spare room.
If we buy 3, do we get the $10 video credit x3, or one per account?
Still trying to disseminate more Fire TV’s to family members (cheaper than buying a lot more Shield TV’s), but conflicted FTV3 vs Cube.
Unfortunately Amazon’s been limiting each sale to only qty 2-3…
Terms for the offer are here.
They say “Offer limited to one per customer and account.”
Gee they sure are generous with their prime members not.
I wish Amazon would resolve its issues with Google. Now that I have Youtube TV, I have replaced all my Fire TVs with Rokus. I would buy this if I could watch Youtube TV on the cube.
Have to wonder what prime members are doing with their hands when they have to mute their televisions…
