Prime Day will be July 16 & 17 this year, but deals start today

Amazon has announced that its big Prime Day sale will be held on July 16 and 17 this year. While those are the official days, most deals on Amazon devices, including Fire TVs, always start earlier. Some deals are already live. The Prime Day sales are typically when Fire TV devices are discounted the most. If you’ve been in the market for a new Fire TV, the next few weeks will be the best time to buy.

Last year, Prime Day officially started on July 11th, but Fire TV deals went live a week earlier on July 4th. If the same timeline is repeated this year, Fire TVs will go on sale sometime around July 9th. Fire TV Smart TV deals are more sporadic than the stand-alone streaming devices. Various deals on the TVs usually go live every few days leading up to the main Prime Day event. As always, I’ll be keeping a close eye on Fire TV prices and posting as soon as the best ones go live.

Currently, the only Fire TV-related deal that can be considered a Prime Day deal is the Luna game controller on sale for $39.99. At 43% off its regular price of $69.99, it matches last year’s Prime Day price. When considering a deal leading up to Prime Day, keep an eye out for a red “With Prime” label near the price. That typically indicates it’s a legitimate early Prime Day deal and that the price very likely won’t get any lower when the official start of Prime Day rolls around.

This is just my uninformed observation, but it seems like the Costco QD6 Fire TV makes most of the Fire TVs listed on Amazon obsolete. Currently:

    43” 199.99
    50” 259.99
    55” 269.99 (buy 2, get 100 off offer available)
    65” 349.99
    75” 549.99 (buy 2 get 100 offer available)

All come with a 3 year manufacturer warranty and costco’s return policy. I wasn’t super wild over the Hisense A6 from what I saw, but I’d think the upgrade to qled at least helps a bit.

Anyhow, are there any budget fire tv models listed on Amazon that could compete price-wise at this point?
