Rooted Fire TV owners will be happy to hear that a pre-rooted version of Fire TV software version 51.1.6.2 has just been released by rbox. You can download it from the ROM page and, while you wait for the download to complete, shoot rbox a few bucks to show your appreciation for his continued support of the Fire TV. Without him, you’d probably be running 51.1.1.0 still. For those wondering about a pre-rooted Fire OS 5, I’ve passed the stock ROM over to rbox to examine, but don’t get your hopes up just yet. Fire OS 5 likely uses an incompatible bootloader, so it won’t be trivial to make it work with rooted Fire TVs.
If you’re new to Fire TV rooting, check out my starters guide to learn how to root your Fire TV and how to install the latest pre-rooted ROM. As always, this pre-rooted ROM will not help you root a Fire TV, since your Fire TV must already be rooted to install it. The purpose of this pre-rooted ROM is to update rooted Fire TVs to the latest software version without losing root.
I just upgraded to this rom and now I can’t see to see any apps in the Amazon app store. Just says, “We were not able to find any compatible titles in this section.” Has anyone else experienced this?
Thinking about upgrading, anyone else experiencing problems?
No issues at all.
Thnx! Will give it a try then.
I just upgraded with no issues. Many thanks to rbox and AFTVnews! For those upgrading, remember to run and install BusyBox again after the update.
No problems. The only thing I have noticed with these rooted upgrades is that xposed needs to be reinstalled.
And busybox as countersteer posted.
Anyone else having problems with the usb not working after the upgrade?
Nevermind. I’m dumb. Had the USB debugging enabled.
After update voice search won’t work. Any suggestions.
