Forgot to mention that im using this on my new hdtv dad bought me on amazon black friday as well as my dads 3d Toshiba
I have a second generation fire tv whose remote batteries go dead very fast….I had the remote replaced through amazon, but the same thing happens after a day or so…..any thoughts on what I can do? I bought a usb remote that works good, but I would like my original Amazon remote with voice to function properly. Thank you
when do you think we’ll see fire os 6?
Should Amazon allow users to manually force an update the first day an update is available?
I don’t know about Apple tv but i have an iphone and a macbook and Apple products updates are available for download/install within hours not weeks.
Side note: I know “why?” they do it slow releases. I don’t care. If their software isn’t good enough for public release don’t make it public and just beta test it, then announce the release publicaly when ready.
To the best of your knowledge, will rbox continue to create pre-rooted ROMs for the Fire TV 2 box? The latest image by rbox sits at 5.2.1.1._r1 and with the pending (re)release of 5.2.4.0 I was wondering if we would see a pre-rooted image of this update in the near future.
Any progress on TWRP for the sticks?
Anything promising for a dirty cow root?

If you look over at the FTV1 PreRooted thread over at XDA. Since the 5.2.1.1_r1 release. There seem to be a lot of FTV1’s that had something go wrong when updating from a previous PreRooted OS 5 rom. They start at comment #901.
I have waited to upgrade from Fire OS 3 since my setup is working fine. But I think it’s now time since there is a new GUI on its way. But been wondering about the failure posts of the latest rom. Wondering if there is a eFuse or missing TWRP or something on the update that cause so many failure posts.
Seems most failures came after a hard reboot. Multiple posts of “Same thing happened to me too. Upgraded to 5.2.1.1_r1 via TWRP and rebooted, it dead now. No lights, nothing.”
I am surprise with the lack of successful upgrading folks. Are you on 5.2.1.1_r1 on your rooted FTV1’s without any problems ?
In terms of internal storage of the Fire TV 2, when Amazon decides to re-push the latest update, how much minimum internal space would it require? Some people’s boxes may have very little space. So will the update just not install?
Elias, please disregard this question as you covered it already. Thought maybe you might forget it by the time you started the Q&A. Thank you.
