Is it possible to successfully repair (at home)an Amazon Fire TV Game Controller with a stuck left toggle? Mine is out of warranty. I picked up “ShadowGun” for free using the .99 sale and the $10 app credit (Thanks Elias!) great game but I’ve noticed that if left untouched the game controller sends everything backwards (on all games not just ShadowGun) it’s nerve wracking, and it’s not in the budget (Thanks to my wife!) to get a new controller…Christmas I’m told….maybe
You wont answer and a think your page is awesome. Love the fire tv but why oh why no news on Alexa in the UK? Our peoples though wars together so why cant we have some love from Alexa?
Why are there no web browsers for the FireTV?
There are. Theres an add on in kodi that does it. Dont wanna mention 3rd party apps.
And i believe es file explorer will.
You can “sideload” web browsers (Firefox,Chrome,etc), but you will need a mouse and keyboard to navigate and do anything. But no official browsers, maybe due to the requirement of using a mouse.
Any theories as to why NewsOn has an Amazon app for Android devices, but not for the FireTV?
Why does the screensaver picture stop after 15 minutes, screen goes blank, music keeps playing, is there any way to keep screensaver on for more than 15 minutes? Thanks, great website!
I have a question on the Blu r1 hd phone. My question is should I update the Blu’s operating software as well as Android’s os? I know if I do it then I might not be able to block ads anymore but for securities sake updating is better than not?
Also, if updating either os then I can not root my r1 hd right?

This is much easier than with ADP conecction with a computer. The programm might be a bit old but the sidelaoding works perfect.

This is the easiest way for me and works like a charm. Just download the APK with Evozi in your phone browser and it can be send with this app. I don’t have a andoid phone.

I sideloaded this app store on my fire TV (I am not routed). From here I could easily install apps that are not in the amazon app store (like the latest MX player for the right codecs for another sideloaded app).
I think I have installed some apps that are only compatible with Android 6. I had to factory reset my device to get them off. ES file explorer wouldn’t remove them. Does that make sense? Or is something else going on? The versions for android 4 of these apps work fine and I can delete.
Why the AFTV” is 75% percent faster than the AFTV1. The processor speed was not increased with 75%. AFTV1 = 4x @ 1.7Ghz and AFTV2 = 2x @ 2GHz & 2x @ 1.6Ghz. Can you enlighten me?

I’d really like to know how to keep Kodi active all the time, so I don’t have to wake the FTV first in order to listen to some music via Kodi.

I also looked at getting MrMC but shows it’s not compatible with my FireTV. Does it require a certain OS version on Fire TV? I have Fire TV Gen1 and not updated to OS version 5 yet as I’m rooted
needs to be OS version 5, MrMC uses features only present in fireOS 5+

Hi. Found a solution to the “Amazon Appstore: Unknown Error” when starting Apps in offline mode. It is due to the system date set to 2010. Now, how do you set the system date on a fire tv 2?

Does Amazon routinely list apps & games on their appstore, but then all of a sudden list them as incompatible at a future time. I’ve noticed this happen with xfinity tv go app, and Sonic 4 ep I&II (they were both compatible apps in the past).
I especially wanted to buy the Sonic games, and was surprised they were not compatible any longer.

I currently have Fire TV Gen1 with version 51.1.6.3, rooted and unlocked bootloader. I would like to update to the latest rooted version 5 (I’m not sure what the latest rooted RBox version is), but when I go to http://www.aftvnews.com/start/ and click through the steps and finally click on 51.1.6.3 (my current version) it goes to screen saying that version is not rootable, but I’m already rooted and just need to get to latest rooted version and TWRP. Can you please tell me exactly which guide to follow and also does CMW (or is it CWM) recovery need to be uninstalled?

I have another question regarding a new fire tv2 that I have purchased on around Oct/Nov 2015 and it has upc: 848719057492. Now I need to know what os it has without me opening it since I might sell it as new with the info on it as rootable but how would I know without opening it?
Also, instead of selling it should I root it and keep it? I already have three of them and two rooted with kodi installed and updates blocked already and one is unrooted with kodi and updates unblocked.

I recently noticed that I could get my Fire TV 2 switch hdmi out-put by i self even when my TV (Sony Bravia KDL-46EX503) was set on my Chromecast as hdmi out-put. I’ve only got this to work when casting something from my phone/computer to Chromcast. Then my Chromecast can set my TV to switch the hdmi out-put automatic (hdmi-cec).
I think the Fire TV was able to do the same because it was in standby mode and when I touched the remote-control it sends a HDMI-CEC to the TV to turn it on and then switch hdmi-output. My question is. Is there any adb shell command that can get fire TV to send the “start TV” hdmi-cec commad to get hdmi to change out-put? Do you know any hdmi-cec commands?

Another MrMC question, Can you stream your local OTA channels {antenna) thru the app?
at least two ways:
1) install a PVR backend/frontend,
2) if you use an hdhomerun tuner from digitaldust they have an app.
MrMC also supports the hdhomerun through it’s pvr.hdhomerun

I remember you saying its available for 28 days and wanted to buy MrMc, i could not find this app through my fire tv/stick.
