Hey there, I have a fascinating idea, unfortunately my knowledge regarding the subject isn’t very good.
I was wondering if it’s possible to use my fire TV as a wireless range extender, because I mostly use Powerline adaptors round my house to get Internet upstairs, but unfortunately the wireless isn’t very good upstairs so I thought since I’m connected by ethernet upstairs and I’m not using the wireless, on the fire TV, maybe that could be turned into a wireless extender.
I’ve seen apps on the Google Play store, what are for this capability, regarding tethering to other devices, but as I tested them for some reason it disconnected my fire TV remote, and it wouldn’t reconnect for some reason so I had to factory reset my fire TV to get it to work again.
Any ideas why that would disconnect my remote for ?
I would love it if you could make a tutorial on this subject as it would be a brilliant idea and very handy for most people.

Amazon now lists the Fire TV box as out of stock until August 26th. That seems like a fairly long time. Do you think this is just one of the occasional instances where the Fire TV is out of stock or could the long wait add some credence to the theory that a new Fire TV box may be coming?
Hey big E I was just wondering what EXACTLY are you planning to do with the new phone you just purchased (more specific the BLU r1 hd smartphone)?
I just ordered the 2gb ram with 16gb storage at Amazon myself because you just got one so I figured big E might have something special for it under your sleeves lol.
I heard rooting is possible in the xda forums but if you are planning to shed more light into this that would be great!

With the new fire TV box and stick coming out this year. Will the first gen boxes/ stick still get support? Or will Amazon ditch the first gen and support the new ones only?
The last few days I’ve been having an issue of my Fire TV not waking up from sleep and giving me nothing but a blank screen until I reboot it.
I Googled the issue and found this was a problem with a software update something like a year ago, and a subsequent update fixed it. I never had the problem then, but I just started having it a couple of days ago. And I don’t believe I have any recent FTV software updates.
Anyone else having trouble with this issue again (or as in my case, for the first time)?

With every incremental upgrade I become increasingly concerned about features being removed from the AFTV (E.g. FireStarter, ability to root, etc.).
I worry that Amazon may try to adopt an Apple philosophy, creating a rather closed ecosystem, void of the ability for us enthusiasts to tinker as we see fit.
Do you feel we are headed toward this way? Do you believe that the next major upgrade we may see even more essential features lost (E.g. ability to sideload specific apps)?

I played the game Fibbage on FireTV 1st Gen and had no issues. I had a party last weekend and attempted to play on FireTV 2nd Gen and kept getting lock ups. When I would reboot, the FireTV would take a long time to reboot and kept showing a thermometer on the screen. The unit was quite hot to touch so it seemed like it overheated. This happened many times and never happened on the 1st Gen or with a different program on Gen 2. Does FireTV Gen 2 have an issue with overheating under certain conditions?

I feel Ftv1 running fireos3 seems better than ftv2 when browsing the internet with Chrome browser or Firefox. Have you ever compared the two & noticed this?
(web pages seem to load up slightly faster on ftv1 but other apps run fine on ftv2. I wonder if the difference is due to fireos5?

Is there a *free* mouse or keyboard app for the Amazon firestick?
I sideloaded “settings.apk” (v 4.0.4) to the firestick in order to connect “non-supported” Bluetooth devices (mouse in my case) after reading a good bit that this works. The problem is that when I select any options at all in the app, this sideloaded settings app crashes.
Do you have any experience or knowledge about this issue? Do you know of any apps that may have compatibility issues? Suggestions?
Adblink no longer mounts the Fire TV as a drive – any other way to do this?
