Do you think there is any chance that an Amazon Video app will yet appear on the Apple TV or is there just too much corporate politics going on for this to ever happen?

Pretty sure you can with Root access. I’ve read you can at least.
Why is controlling Audible on Alexa Fire TV not supported?
Does the ADB Command, “adb shell pm hide com.amazon.device.software.ota”, block updates on Fire OS 5 for a non rooted Fire TV as claimed in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/block-ota-updates-root-fire-os-5-t3183134) over at XDA? I’ve actually tried it and do get the familiar “Update error”. Just wanting to be sure as I value your opinions regarding the Fire TV.
So as a UK Fire TV user, we don’t get access to Alexa but I have noticed that the Alexa web app has gain more international support (ie UK addresses are being reconsiged in the Traffic Update Settings, BBC News as a news flash source and the weather location is now location based).
So on one hand it’s looks like Alexa is going international soon, on the other hand, there are no AWS locations in the UK (and we’re aren’t going to get one until Q4)
Has anyone heard of any rumors of an Alexa international release?
Does anyone here use Splashtop to Remote Desktop on the FireTV?
Splashtop has stopped working ever since going to my AFTV2 with FireOS 5. If I open Splashtop on my FTV1’s with Fire OS 3 then it works flawlessly! Anyone else have this issue? Elias, any ideas?
Another question regarding an app. In GTA Vice City, how do you bring up the map? I found out that clicking the HUD map brings up the world map but can’t figure it out with the game controller. Also I can’t figure out how to zoom in on the map at all. I think that it wants me to pinch to zoom, like you would on a touch screen. Any ideas on that?

Nice tip!!! This is true for several other apps. You have no visual indication you’re on a button but if you click it works. The nature of touch screen apps I suppose.

I am wondering if you could help me figure out how to download Alexa on my fire TV first gens running 5.0.5 (patiently waiting to be rooted). It’s tough getting a lot of apps here in Canada. Any help and guidance would be appreciated.

I just noticed today that “it’s always sunny in Philadelphia” was removed from prime video, so I can no longer stream old episodes for free. Was it just this show or others as well that we’re removed and is there any place this is published? I ask because you post a what’s new section but not what’s removed. Thanks in advance!

Can you speculate on whether or not you think a rooted Fire TV Stick will eventual be able to utilize external storage via OTG cable?
Also since I bought a 2nd Gen Fire TV I’ve been hoping to find a good use case for Alexa. I see articles on new tricks and capabilities as they come out, but haven’t found anything that makes sense for me to use yet. Is there a comprehensive list of things Alexa can do on the Fire TV?

Great work on the podcast. Love the show. Have you tried the screen mirroring function with the AFTV or AFTV stick? I have made a couple of attempts with my Nexus 7 tablet and windows 10 computer. It either does not connect or the video and audio are horribly out of sync. Have you had any winning combinations of device to AFTV that gave acceptable performance? Thanks

SmartDNS users might experience issues since the FireOS 5 update, because an IPV6 DNS is used by default instead of the IPV4 one (mananged by the smartdns provider).
I could solve it in my router via disabling
-DNSv6-Server in Home Network – DNSv6-Server through Router Advertisement (RFC 5006) – set to off
-DHCPv6-Server in Home network – set to deactivate
As I understand it is not possible for everyone because of internet provider or router limitations. Any thoughts/ideas on this?

I haven’t heard that comment regarding Amazon, but Apple’s marketing catchphrase for their Apple TV calls it “The Future of Television.”

I would like to know if you are going to update some old guides like how to mount a ntfs drive or better yet the guide about changing the internal storage to an external storage. Mostly I woukd like to do those things for ftv2 and a lot of things have changed since then.

Are there are FireTV users in this forum who too would like to see an HD logo on the cover-art? Amazon intersperses HD and SD titles in recommendations. And one has to jump through hoops to figure out if a title is in HD or SD. It would be a lot easier if they put an HD logo on the right top corner of the cover art (Amazon uses the top left corner to insert the Prime and UHD logo). I suggest we send Amazon a request. More voices means … it gets heard. Elias, can you show people how best to send their feedback to Amazon? Thanks!!
Is there any development on allowing voice search within an app interface (e.g. Netflix / Youtube). It is such a wasted resource if they limit it to only top-level search. I realize there may be some apps where a voice or alphanumeric keyboard input is not intercepted correctly. But I am sure there are a few apps where the voice input would be treated as if its being entered on a keyboard. Amazon needs to allow that.
Hi Elias, Just wanted to get your opinion regarding IPTV apps in the amazon app store. Do they work? Recommendations for a good one to use? Companion apps needed?
On a side note, I ordered the Rii K12BT Ultra Slim Portable Mini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard with touchpad mouse to connect with my Fire Stick.

When is 4k kodi and 4k plex coming to fire tv2? On a CNET review, they mention plex is due to support 4k output some time soon on aftv. Also I have a new lg 4k tv and a new pioneer 4k compatible AV receiver but when I play netflix and prime uhd I only get a black picture. I’ve gone to the picture setting and the the 4k option is there with no warnings about compatability issues. If I conect the aftv direct to the TV it’s fine.

I received answer : Delete Kingroot and problem go away (from KODI forum). What is a good way to delete Kingroot. I tried to do it, but remote control and mouse didn’t work into Kingroot app. I can only push optimize button.Also I found Tutorial To Replace Kinguser With SuperSU. Is it work in AFTV?
