Any update on when v5.0x OS will come to the 1st gen Fire TV?
I’m guessing never. I don’t buy the whole “black days” theory. The gen1 FireTV box hasn’t been sold since September. There’s no rush of gen1 boxes being activated on Christmas day. Also, software updates for the 2nd gen stick were pushed out during this same “black days” timeframe.
This question needs to be answered. Is amazon abandoning the first gen or not? Sure seems like it.
I totally agree, this is pretty f’ed up if you ask me. I really expected more out of amazon with the fire TV. It’s been a month now and they haven’t said anything about the update to the first gen. Also we still don’t have voice search for Netflix. I think I mine need to finally make the jump to the new Apple TV so I can finally see what truth universal (combined with voice) search really feeels like.
Just got my FireTV 2 and waiting for the Root. Can you give us an update on the Pre-rooted ROM and better rooting procedure? I haven’t connected my box yet because I’m waiting for this.
A lot of TV makers were talking about home automation at CES and pushing TVs as the hub for it all. Do you think boxes like the Fire TV will be a hub or is the TV better?

I Have the ftv2 with a 4k dell monitor but is the amazon prime videos 4k? If not then why is this advertised as 4k?
2nd question: Can one simply pull the usb thumb drive out of the atv2 without causing any problems? I noticed the sd card needs to be ejected by selecting “eject” under storage.
One more question is about rooted atv4. Lets say i updated to 5.0.4 and then give it to a friend of mines as a gift but can he block software updates from the router or from the device?
Oh yeah my question is… After blocking future updates i can ROOT the aftv4 anytime right with 5.0.4? Thank you
How likely are we to see Fire TV [OS] embedded in third party devices (TV’s…)? Any chance we see native access to local content (DLNA or network file browsing)?
Anybody having trouble with the All 4 app? (Channel 4 VOD) When it gets to an ad, it jumps to the start of the episode. Really annoying.
Do you have any news about the Fire Tv Stick 2
I find myself having to use 4 remote controls when I want to watch something on my Amazon Fire TV Box … one from Comcast, one from Samsung, one from Amazon, and sometimes one from my Sound Bar. Is there any way around having to use so many remotes? It can be quite confusing at times…how would do you or would you handle it?

Netflix announced that they are going to block access for people who are using geo unblocking services. They have announced this in the past before and luckily nothing happened but this time it sounds more serious. This would be a damn shame for me (and many others). I hope Amazon and HBO NOW will not follow Netflix example. Do you think they might/would?
I guess this is more a request from the content owners. Do you think so too? Netflix wouldn’t care too much as long as you pay them.
If stuff that I watch on US Netflix, which is not on my local Belgian Netflix, is blocked the most likely alternative for most is piracy (which is the only way to get this content). When are these content owners going to wake up and provide rights globally. I guess there is a transition period but with these measures and attitude they are not helping themselves. We will find ways again to go around geo blocking. Or go to piracy (if that’s the only way).

I’ve noticed that a few of my sideloaded apps require Google play services to be installed in order to work properly.
I followed a guide on xda and managed to get at least one of them working by installing a couple of google apk:s, such as Google play store and Google play services.
So my question is: why do some apps require the Google play services and what’s the purpose of that apk?
When is amazon going to update 5.0.4 in the uk so we can use Alexa?
It is legal if I resell firetv sticks in my website?
How can I access favourites quicky? (kodi is marked as a fav)
I’ve done the root update to 5.0.4 and I’ve noticed some different updates on your website (Custom Roms) Do I need up update the latest on there and how do you do it? Boot Menu?
