Early indications are that the Amazon Fire TV Stick announced this morning is being very well received. New orders placed at the time this post is being written are scheduled to ship in mid December. Readers are telling me that orders placed just 2 hours after the device was announced weren’t even quick enough to receive a release day shipment. That means the initial stock of Fire TV Sticks sold out within two hours. Readers who ordered 3 hours after pre-orders opened were already receiving shipment arrival estimates of early December. Additionally, the previous limit of 2 devices per customer has now been reduced to a limit of just 1 device per customer.
Either Amazon can’t make them fast enough or they just grossly underestimated the device’s popularity. The limited time discounted price of $19 for Prime members has surely triggered numerous impulse purchases. The Fire TV Stick thread on SlickDeals, a very popular deals and coupon forum, currently has over 1,200 thumbs up votes, making it one of the most popular posts of all time. In comparison, the best score a Fire TV post ever received before today was 125 thumbs up votes.
Glad I was able to get in for 2 for 11/26 delivery. For $19, these are no-brainers.
damn. i should have gotten a second…
Just do an online chat support with Amazon and get them to add a second for you. I just did that this morning
One would think this is a no-brainer deal, but reading through the Slickdeals thread you see that indeed the no-brainers are stuck. What’s it do? Do I need this? Sigh, what happened to people reading and learning before just asking. Besides, it’s $20. If you are that broke, you shouldn’t be looking at this anyway.
AFTVNews, thank you for your guides, posts, and overall site! Love it!
Just ordered one myself, and now it’s showing a January delivery date, so they’ve pushed back even further.
Confirmation:
Your estimated delivery date is:
Monday, January 5, 2015
Mine says january 19th. At least ill have time to cancel after the first shipments get delivered if its not everything we expect.
