Peacock app is likely officially coming to Fire TV devices tomorrow

Peacock TV has been widely available for nearly a year and it’s still not officially available on Fire TV devices. While many people have sideloaded the app, at Peacock’s own suggestion, it certainly hasn’t been an ideal solution. That’s all finally going to change because it looks like the app will be coming to Fire TV devices tomorrow.

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but the official Fire TV Twitter account just tweeted “Tomorrow’s announcement is NOT a prank” with an image of a Fire TV remote photoshopped into the jello prank scene from The Office, Peacock’s most popular TV show. The official Peacock Twitter account then replied to that tweet with “Damnit, Jim!,” a popular phrase from The Office, as if to imply the Fire TV account couldn’t wait to reveal the big news.

Peacock’s webpage for which devices are supported still says it is “in continued discussions” to bring the app to Fire TV devices, but at some point within the last week, Peacock removed the suggestion to sideload its app. Peacock is the last major streaming service not yet available on Fire TV devices. The service has long been available on all major streaming platforms. While it has been a long wait, it’s good to see that Amazon and NBCUniversal have likely finally reached an agreement and are likely bringing the app to Fire TV devices.

will we need (is it recommended) that we uninstall the sideloaded version prior to installing version avail via Amazon tomorrow?

I’m hoping that it will have Prime Channels as part of the rollout.

Although I’m not sure how it will work for people like myself who get it free through my internet provider.

I doubt it will have a Prime Video Channel option. Comcast wants you in their standalone app to best monetize your data. But, a year later, I will take an official standalone app and having Peacock content show up with Fire TV searches.
