NVIDIA Shield TV is on sale at Amazon

Amazon is having a small sale on the NVIDIA Shield TV set-top box that runs Android TV. The original package that includes both a game controller and a remote is on sale for $179.99. That’s $20 off the regular retail price of $199.99. The newer package that includes only a remote control is on sale for $169.99, which is $10 less than the regular price. These prices aren’t much of a discount, but it’s fairly rare for the Shield TV to be discounted at all, so it’s worth pointing out for anyone who’s interested in trying the best Android TV box on the market.

    Good find

I have a couple of fireTVs and a shield TV (thinking of getting a second for the bedroom another).

I really love the coverage of AFTVnews and would love to find a website with a similar level of coverage as this one. Any ideas?

  2. Just a heads up for others who were ignorant like I was:

The remote has a built in volume control, it’s a touch surface below the mic button. This isn’t obvious from looking at it.

Nvidia shield supports USB tv tuners, and Android hardware support keeps improving.

Personally, I’ll wait for a lower price, but it’s tempting.

Best Buy had it cheaper than Amazon yesterday though their Ebay portal. At $149.99 it’s a buy. But my Fire TVs seem to only catch the “I’ll give you $10” on Craigslist emails.

Big deal. I’ll wait for the NEW model.
