NFL Sunday Ticket app possibly coming to the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

A big sore spot for Fire TV owners who are football fans is the lack of a NFL Sunday Ticket app on their devices. It looks like that may change soon because DIRECTV’s help page now lists the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick as one of the “connected devices” which are “certified for the NFL Sunday Ticket app.” It could just be a mistake, but with the 2016 NFL season just a month away, now would be the perfect time to expand the app to new devices. Amazon and the NFL just teamed up to release All or Nothing, the documentary-series that follows an NFL team through a full season, so hopefully it means the two companies are getting friendly and have plans to bring live NFL games to Fire TV devices. There’s already an NFL Sunday Ticket app available for Amazon’s Fire tablets, so it wouldn’t take much to port that app over to the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. Thanks Ozzie F. for letting me know about the help page!

Now we just need NFL Mobile or Game Pass, assuming this really happens.

this is the reply from “NFL Digital Care” about an Amazon Fire TV app for NFL Game Pass back in May:

“There currently isn’t a timeline for Amazon Fire TV support at this time. However, we’ve forwarded your note along to the NFL Game Pass Mobile Product Team; they appreciate all suggestions and feedback”

I’ve used the Kodi NFL Game Pass addon since last year (and plan on using it again this year) and it worked great. However, I would prefer a native Amazon app. You would think the NFL would be interested in make an app available since this is a paid service.
