Tegna, an American broadcast company has announced that they’ll be releasing new Fire TV apps for their numerous local ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, and Fox affiliate stations by the end of the year. Tegna owns or operates 66 television stations in 54 markets, which you can find listed here. They currently have around 20 Fire TV apps, but most haven’t been updated since 2015 and offer little more than a list of video clips to watch. The new apps are expected to offer a free ad-supported live stream, which is likely the most desired feature of a local news app. If your local station is on their list of channels, you’ll hopefully be getting a new app soon.
