New software update released for Fire TV Edition televisions

A new software update has been rolling out to the Fire TV Edition televisions. The new update maintains the same 5.2.6.0 version number as the previous update but increases the build number from 587444520 to 587550120. There doesn’t appear to be any major changes or additions, which tends to be the case when only the build number changes. This update likely fixes bugs or possibly prepares the TV for future features, like the new Silk Browser. If you notice any changes or fixes, be sure to mention them in the comments below.

Just did the update and it screwed up my FTV3.

Amazon remote no longer works even after changing batteries, restarting, unpairing, repairing, etc.

Android remote app has about 85% functionality but back and home keys don’t work.

Hate to have to factory reset but that’s looking like my only option.

BTW, that’s for the dongle, not the television.

You can delete my comments. The problem is resolved.

The FTV3 is only a few weeks old and I couldn’t believe that the batteries would already be bad but I was getting “Battery: offline”.

I unboxed a brand new Fire Stick that just showed up and used the batteries from it.

    No difference.

Just for the heck of it, I tried new Duracells and it paired fine and works fine.

So there appear to be some bad batteries going out in the new packages.
