New Fire TV apps of the week — Mar 3-9

This past week there were 47 new apps and games released for Amazon Fire TV devices. One of them is an app I released myself called Informer. You can read all about it here in more detail, but it's essentially an app to identify your Fire TV, tell you about its specs, and tell you about all the new features added through software updates. Xite is a new music video app that offers 100 different channels to keep the music playing. MAXtv is a new IPTV app available for European Fire TV owners with both live channels and on demand content. FilmRise has released 3 more apps this week, adding to the 2 from last week. The first is a Free TV app with over 10,000 free movies and shows to watch. There's also a SciFi and Action app from FilmRise to check out with more free content. A new File Explorer app has also been released this week to help manage your files. Continue on for the full list of new apps and games released in the last 7 days.

Did you miss the news about recast allowing external hard drives?

No, but thanks for checking. I’ve known for several days, but I’m waiting for mine to update and get the feature. I don’t want to just say the feature is out without being able to give details and answer questions about it. Supposedly, the wider rollout is happening tomorrow.

I would like to see a much less expensive tuner, more on the design of the HDHomerun tuner, that has no internal drive at all.

still waiting for those clowns at Amazon and Google to get their together so I can get YouTube TV on my firestick4k without the sideloaded audio issues…

I have an iPhone, most of the apps are directly downloads for Android device only. As an iPhone user I’m disappointed

I think you may be in the wrong place. This site mostly covers Amazon devices, and pretty much all Amazon devices run Android in some way. At the very least they dont run iOS.

I checked out “Files Explorer for Fire TV” which seems to be based on Amaze File Manager. Only special folders available (DCIM, Videos etc), no root support, no web server support.
So for now I’ll stick to AnExplorer which is freely available from the Amazon Appstore.
