Amazon has started a new STEM Club subscription program that sends your child a new educational toy once a month for $19.99. The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) toys are hand-picked and include things like programmable robots, crystal kits, chemistry sets, and arithmetic toys. The subscriptions are available in three age ranges, which are 3-4 years old, 5-7 years old, and 8-13 years old. The toys that arrive each month will be curated by Amazon editors to encourage children to learn through play, and will be selected from recently launched or Amazon exclusive products.
Aaaaand just like that I know something I’m getting my nephews and niece.
Too bad none for 14 to 17 year olds?
There’s already tons of educational efforts to get teens into STEM.
Mostly futile.
The golden age is 9-12.
Kids are born “scientists” but schools pretty much drive it out of them by the time they hit puberty.
The value of kits like these is they keep them engaged in STEM despite all the social pressures. (The precursor, THINGS OF SCIENCE, worked fine for 50 years.)
