College basketball fans will be happy to hear that a new NCAA March Madness app has just been released for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The app gives access to live streams of all the games airing on TBS, TNT, and truTV. For games airing on CBS, you’ll have to use the CBS app. The March Madness app also provides on-demand game playback, highlights and behind the scenes. As you’d expect, you’ll need to activate the app with a paid TV subscription before you can watch any of the live streaming games and other content in the app. It’s compatible with all Fire TV and Fire TV Stick models.
Do they also have an app for Android TV?
I don’t know. I don’t track Android TV apps in detail like I do Fire TV apps.
Sideload it to firestick or firetv. An APK is an APK.
Amazon marketplace apps are reliant on a subscription check with the Amazon marketplace. Even the free apps.
You may succeed if you also install the Amazon app store and login, but not certain.
This is mostly correct, but it’s the developer’s choice whether they want Amazon’s copy protection added to their app. Not all apps in the Amazon appstore have the “subscription check.” There’s a good chance this March Madness app has Amazon’s copy protection enabled, but I don’t know for sure.
Why would you need to watch on Fire TV if you have a cable or satellite subscription? Only makes sense if you’re taking stick away from your cord. Would make more sense (and money) if the content provider charged per game or for entire tournament so that those without a paid TV subscription could enjoy. I’ll just watch on SlingTV and OTA.
Is Comcast excluded again, like last year?
Some of us cord shavers have a cable TV subscription for our local channels only. Therefore, we can only watch what’s being aired on our local CBS channel, not any of the other channels.
Check out SlingTV. I live in Sacramento and get CSN Bay Area and CSN California. (I use an antenna for locals).
I can get to the activation site but the March Madness site will not open. my apple tv does not respond to the activation code. any suggestions
