Amazon has put nearly every Fire TV Edition television it sells from Toshiba and Insignia on sale for Prime Day. Surprisingly, this even includes most of the 2021 models that were just released within the last few weeks. TV sizes include 24, 32, 39, 42, 43, 50, 55, 65, and 70 inches. Here is a full list of all the TVs on sale and a breakdown of the main differences between 2020 vs 2021 models and Toshiba vs Insignia models.
The key difference between 4K Insignia TVs and 4K Toshiba TVs, regardless of the model year, is that Toshiba’s TVs all support Dolby Vision and HDR10, while Insignia’s TVs only support HDR10. As for the model year, all 4K Insignia TVs (both 2020 and 2021) and all 2020 4K Toshiba TVs share all the same specs, apart from the aforementioned HDR difference. The outliers are the 2021 4K Toshiba TVs which have double the internal storage (16GB vs 8GB), an extra HDMI port (4 vs 3), and an extra USB port (2 vs 1).
So, the order for best 4K Fire TV Edition models by specs is:
- 1st – 2021 Toshiba 4K (Dolby Vision, HDR10, 16GB storage, 4 HDMI, 2 USB)
- 2nd – 2020 Toshiba 4K (Dolby Vision, HDR10, 8GB storage, 3 HDMI, 1 USB)
- 3rd – 2020 or 2021 Insigna 4K (HDR10, 8GB storage, 3 HDMI, 1 USB)
As for non-4K models, they all share the exact same specs regardless of model year or brand. The only thing to look out for is that Insignia’s 2021 TVs are all 1080p TVs while Toshiba’s TVs and 2020 Insignia TVs mix in some 720p models.
