Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller on sale for $25.95

One of the best alternate Fire TV game controllers, the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller, is currently on sale for $25.95 on Amazon. Apart from being $25.00 for a few days in September, this is the lowest price this controller has ever been. If you’re not happy with Amazon’s Fire Game Controller, or don’t want to wait for it to be back in stock, the Xbox 360 controller works perfectly with the Fire TV and is, in my opinion, a better controller than the one made by Amazon. This sale is for the wired USB version, so you’ll have to be within 10 feet of your Fire TV, but on the positive side, you won’t have to deal with charging or replacing batteries all the time.

  1. Tex says:

Does a wireless version of the Xbox 360 controller work with the stock Fire TV?

  2. Gareth says:

I believe I have read elsewhere that it does with the wireless dongle plugged in to the Fire TV.

I have wired (PC) version of the controller, as above, and it works perfectly in Riptide 2 and Asphalt 8: Airborne. Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is a complete mess, the R1/R2 buttons do not work so you cannot fight. Although the publishers recently updated the two controller settings to 5 each of them still has a problem with mapping to this controller. Hopefully they will be working on this. I also had some problems with Grand Theft Auto San Andreas but that it is in the cloud at the moment so cannot recall exactly what. There was also a problem with the recent Indy 500 Arcade game but that was such a piece of …. I could care less!

You can navigate around the Fire TV interface with no problem and in some apps, such as (sideloaded) M*** it allows you to back out of the pop up ads where the Fire TV remote will not work or you do not have a mouse attached
