Amazon is currently offering a 3rd-gen Echo Dot and 1 month of Amazon Music Unlimited for just $8.98. The catch? You have to be a “new Echo device customer” and be a “new subscriber” to Amazon Music Unlimited and be a Prime member. That probably disqualifies the vast majority of people reading this, but this is a pretty great deal if you fall into that unique category. This older Echo Dot normally sells for $39.99 and has been as low as $19 in the past. I assume being a “new Echo device customer” means you’ve never had an Echo registered to your Amazon account, but it could just as easily mean you’ve never purchased an Echo device with your Amazon account. Similarly, being a “new subscriber” to Amazon Music might mean you don’t have an active subscription or it might mean you’ve never had a subscription. Either way, the Amazon page for this deal will let you know right away if you don’t qualify. Note that the Amazon Music subscription will auto-renew after the included first month, so you might want to turn off auto-renewal immediately on this page.
It looks like it’s denying anyone who ever had an Echo on their account.
It tells me no with mine but I thought maybe because I had free trials with Amazon Music before.
Yet it tells others I know the same thing.
Too bad as I would not have minded another 3rd Gen….
My wife’s account has purchased a spot, and a 4th gen dot with clock, and she was able to purchase this deal. we have also used an amazon music trial on her account recently.
My account was a no although i haven’t purchased any echos on that account.
That’s a “no” for me as well. I have never “purchased” an Echo device but I do have 2 Echo Dots registered to my account because I got them for free with TV’s I’ve purchased in the past. This is a really stringent catch.
Echo dots have been practically falling out of the sky like raindrops. I don’t think I know anyone that doesn’t have at least one.
