How to watch the 2019 Academy Awards on Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

The 91st annual Oscars are today, Sunday, Feb 24 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET. Here’s how to stream the Academy Awards live, including the red carpet pre-show interviews, on an Amazon Fire TV, Firestick, or Fire TV Edition television.

Red Carpet Pre-Show (3:30 p.m. PT / 6:30 p.m. ET)

People TV – The People TV app will be streaming their red carpet coverage, in conjunction with Entertainment Weekly, for free. No login or cable subscription needed.

Twitter – The Twitter App will be streaming ABC’s red carpet coverage for free. No login or cable subscription needed.

E! – The E! app will be streaming their red carpet coverage, but you need to activate the app with a cable TV provider.

ABC – The ABC app will be streaming their red carpet coverage, but you need to activate the app with a cable TV provider.

Academy Awards (5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET)

Locast – If you live in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, or Washington DC, you can use the Locast app to watch ABC for free, but you’ll be interrupted with requests to donate to the app every 15 minutes or so.

ABC – The ABC app will be streaming the show live, but you need to activate the app with a cable TV provider.

Streaming TV Services – If you don’t have a cable TV subscription, you’ll need to use one of the following streaming TV services that offer ABC, which all have a free trial: Hulu Live (app), PlayStation Vue (app), DirecTV Now, (app)

    Had issues streaming via both DirecTV Now and Locast last night. Appears both platforms got hammered with viewers.

    Can you use Locast with a proxy server that has an IP in one of its cities?
