How to redeem your Free 1-Year Blink Subscription Plus Plan for Amazon Cloud Cam owners

To help make up for discontinuing its Cloud Cam security camera, Amazon is giving all Cloud Cam owners a free Blink Mini per Cloud Cam you own and a free 1-year subscription to its Blink Plus Plan. Amazon informed Cloud Cam owners last week that they could now redeem their free cameras and subscription. While the free Blink Mini cameras were easy to redeem, many people had trouble getting the $100 1-year subscription for free because Amazon left out a crucial step in its instructional email. Here is what you need to do to redeem your free subscription.

What Amazon forgot to mention in its email is you must first link your Blink account to your Amazon account before you are able to redeem your free subscription. To do this, or check if your account is already linked, do the following:

  1. If you don’t have a Blink account, you need to create one using the Blink app. This guide assumes you’ve already received an email from Amazon about your free camera(s) and subscription.
  2. Open the Blink app on a mobile device and select the Settings tab in the lower right corner.
  3. Select the Account and Privacy option near the top.
  4. Tap the option to Link to your Amazon Account and follow the instructions to log into your Amazon account. Be sure to link the same account that has the Cloud Cams registered to it.
  5. Once your Blink and Amazon accounts are linked, proceed to this page and click the yellow button that says “Subscribe for $100/year” under the “Blink Subscription Plus Plan” section. Be sure not to select the cheaper $30 “Basic” plan.
  6. During checkout, you should now see a $100 credit applied with the label “Cloud Cam Promotion” and your total should be $0.00.
  7. OPTIONAL: Once your subscription has started, it will auto-renew in one year by charging the card on file with your Amazon account. If you don’t want it to auto-renew, you need to go to this page and select the cancel button next to the Blink plan. Once you click the cancel button, you will be given the option to “Cancel on renewal date” so that you will still get your free 1-year subscription without worrying about it auto-renewing. Just be sure to not click the “End Now” button or you will forfeit your free subscription.

Does anyone know how to add this promo to an account that wasn’t attached to the original cloud cam account? Seems Blink doesn’t allow sharing of devices and I’m grandfathered on a different Blink/Amazon account. Thanks!

My promo didn’t work for whatever reason, the plus promo is supposedly already attached to your account but didn’t work, I did have a blink account already for years, after multiple attempts of customer service, I got an agent that said purchase it and he will refund the charge for a year of blink plus. Before that I got a few clueless associates so your results may vary until you get someone that can fix it for you.

So how does one go about adding the blink mini to the amazon key account to replace the amazon cloud cam for key deliveries? I deleted the old cloud cam and tried adding a new cam and only options were Amazon Cloud Cam, MyQ Cam (myQ connected to my garage/key setup) and ring cam. I only have a ring doorbell and don’t want another ring camera…too many different kinds of cams already. Anybody know if Amazon plans on implementing Blink cams into Amazon Key program, that’d be nice…otherwise why the heck didn’t they offer a ring cam as a replacement instead of blink mini. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They aren’t going to give a ring can they are too cheap, as soon as I heard the news they were ending cloud Cam service I complained over and over it doesn’t matter who you complain to. The truth is blink cameras are almost inferior in every way to cloud cam, blink may have a better color picture in the daytime maybe, but it only records for 30 seconds, cloud cam records for 5 minutes clips, cloud cam you had lifetime three camera plan with one day recordings, blink you have to subscribe to plus to get 60 day 30 second recordings. And the worst part blink even with the plus plan only supports 90 minutes live view in the app, cloud cam that go on for days live view with the app a echo show or a fire TV. And the worst thing is the blink app, cloud Cam app is far superior to it because you can swipe in between cameras quickly blink you have to click on live view for each camera there’s no swiping quickly between cameras, and also bad blink going allows when connection to the camera at a time cloud came back and view out of multiple devices. So the truth is Amazon did this to save money and they screwed us over. Also one last name blink has inferior sound compared to cloud cam.

I mistyped in my comment blink only allows one connection at a time to a camera, you can’t even update settings while you’re viewing the camera they have far less connection capability than the cloud cam. I have not even tested human detection but I heard that’s not as good either.

The one time someone has the balls to come steal from my house was Christmas morning. I swear they r in kahoots with blink bcuz as soon as they pulled up and got out my camera cut smooth off and continued recording as the Thief got away. And I pay for a subscription I called them out on it! So they offered me one free outdoor blink camera bullshit! I took it cuz I wasn’t getting the Drone Parts back. Then on top of that they said that they were sending it to me right after Christmas and they just sent it to me at the end of June crazy. I think they are shitty company and if they I wouldn’t do business with them but I’ve already paid for the subscription so I might as well use it but don’t count on it it’ll let you down every time. Have a great day I wish you all the best
