The HDHomeRun app by SiliconDust has been removed from the Fire TV appstore due to an issue with the channel provider for their HDHomeRun Premium TV service. The app will likely return to the appstore soon, but if you need the app before then, it’s easy to sideload it onto any Fire TV device. To do so, simply enable apps from unknown sources, install my Downloader app, and enter
Good way to update your app:
I already had the app installed on Stick 4K’s and I compared the version to the bit.ly link version, which is newer. I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it and did not get the newer version, so I uninstalled it again and sideloaded the app using Downloader.
Thanks! Now I wish I could use your Downloader to get that app into my LG TV.
If only Apple applications would work on my Windows PC!
An LG TV is not an Amazon Fire Device, if I recall. It’s webOS – totally different kettle of fish, not even android based
Just a heads up, HDHomeRun app may still be in your amazon cloud. I uninstalled the app for troubleshooting only to find it was not available thru the app store. Switching “Hide Cloud Apps” to OFF let me download the app again.
Amazon should have let the app stay. If the court orders SiliconDust to stop offering the service, the app won’t work anyway. Clearly, Amazon is using this as an excuse to eliminate their competition.
Prefer using an OTG cable to sideload instead
Bit.ly/hdrapp seems to be broken. Is there another site to get the apk?
The link posted above is broken. I went to the silicon dust forum and a new link was there that works
